Ah. I had attributed the weight gain to mtx but my story mirrors yours.

I was on this drug but it dramatically reduced my immune system and I had to go to hospital with neutropenia sepsis. I am now on methotrexate which I understand is stronger but I am only on. 7.5 mg a week. I too have had cortisone injections in hand and knee, I have put on some weight but not sure if due to medication, it has not impacted on my moods at all

Does the methotrexate work for you? Im going to ring and get changed over I think, im tired all the time too

Hi Jeanette. I have to have both but the methotrexate makes the big difference. I still flare up and may go onto Anti tnf soon

I am on half dosage of methotrexate because of use impact sulphasalazine had on my immune system. I think though my hands are a bit better. I also had a bone protrude at the top of my chest and that has gone. My knees have got a bit worse though and required a cortisone injection. I simply could not successfully absorb the sulpha...... So this has proved better but it may work even better for you. If sulpha ... Isn't working then this is a reasonable alternative to try
