Surgery acknowledged but not on waiting list yet

I think this is it according to a website I found:

"Your 18 weeks waiting time starts on the day the hospital receives the referral letter or on the day you make the booking for your first appointment, via the choose and book service"

Hello,  suggest you start at the top. Phone the surgeon's secretary, and ask her if she  would tell you if , and where, you are on his list. Save  you chasing your tail

and put your mind at rest.

I think call to surgeon Secretary is on cards .

I just don't know what acknowledged vs waiting list actually means it's like a holding pool I think ?

but does this mean I'm not counted in waiting time rule ?

it was consultant who told me this at Last  Meeting i usualyttdnd clinic but haven't even received appointment for that ( late by 2wks )

Not on waiting list yet , acknowledged means surgeon is aware of need for surgery but has no space for me yet .

Currently his waiting list is 12.weeks long .

That was same thing I told ten wks ago .

When asked if it affected overall waiting time of 18.

Wks I was left confused and no better off ,

I think I need to be on waiting list but it refers to referrals 

Only and I've already been reffered and had op 

(which failed ) 

I give up .

Date set for surgery .
