Heya girls as having suffered cysts for ages and always wanting to know symptoms and causes of cysts i thought we could list them all here tohelp each other out!!!

my symptoms and diagnosis were as follows...

2001when i was 16 was sent to emergency with appendicitis

2001 had appendix and a 4cm cyst removed

2002 had colonoscopy and gastroscopy as DR s thought my new pains were related to bowels/ stomach came back clear

2005 had another colonoscopy done as frequently going to toilet 4 times a day

2005 laproscopy found another 5 cm cyst which was removed and 20 small follicles on my right ovary.PCOS was diagnosed

2006 had follow up ultrasoun found a few cysts which went away naturally

2007 sent to emergency again with right sided abdominal pain. thought it was kidneys... put me on antibiotics . Pain got worse i Fainted at work had severe hot flushes and lightheadedness. Went to doctors again (this free nasty arse cheap doctor whch offered after hours services) she prescribed me panadol!!!!!! paracetomol. went to a good gp he did every ttest imaginable and found a 6cm cyst and a 4cms cyst on the one ovary. he said i would have fainted because it got twisted then untwisted now seeing a gyny (which is booked out for 4 weeks!!!)

X My periods are really heavy lately where as the last few years have been very very light .

X I get really hot flushes ( but no temperature on the thermometre) its normal

X i get really dizzy

x i get really hormonal and bad mood swings during ovulation. i cant sleep the night i get my period at all .

i dont want to keep getting cut open to have cysts removed!!!!!!!!! im over it! my sister has endometriosis my mum has had cysts too!

what causes cysts?! Ive changed my diet im eating better Becasue with PCOS you put on weight around your stomach a lot. Im now going to quit smoking and see if that helps. But i lead a normal ife otherwise i work fulltime im engaged etc. what is different with us girls that get cysts continuously?? id do anything to not get them again!

anyway enough about me does anyone else have symptoms like ths or know why cysts keep coming back to haunt!!??

When you say going to the toilet 4 times a day do you mean diarrhea? becuase i am like that also, go about 4 or 5 times a day, sometimes more also pee alot aswel, think that could be down to drinking alot of fluids though, not sure

Hi I had heavy clotty periods so went to my GP, he sent me for an ultrasound which revealed a 12cm Cyst on my right ovary.

I had alse been suffering with accute lower back pain around mensturation.

I was referred to a consultant immediately and booked in for a full hysterectimy straight away. They took the cyst and both ovaries at the same time.

I'm not on HRT yet but do get some flushes, again no temperature though. But nothing extreme yet. I am waiting for the menopause to kick in early as I am 43 years old and without ovaries.

I was treated from start to finish with 4 months. Hopes this helps.

    Hi all

My symptoms were severe abdominal pain which had me in causalty in July this year/. I couldnt walk and I felt as though I was being ripped in half.

After 2 days of test and prodding everywhere I was discharged with a large cyst.

In the following months I had

    sickness

    dizzy spells

chronic back ache all the time

    swollen stomach

abdominal pain which got worse round ovulation

    Very heavy periods

    extreme tiredness

emotional ranging mainly from crying to rages

Pressure on my bowels and bladder

    Hot flushes

    dry hair falling out

    spots

I had my cyst removed on 31st oct this year and it has changed my life

ay 3 post op depsite the surgery pain I felt so much better and my skin wasnt grey anymoe but had colour

I had the Mirena coil put in as I had a endo cyst and endo

I have just had my first period and its heaven to be able to go out of the hosue without worrying about being near a toilet or flooding everywhere as it was so LIGHT.

I still have the spots and dry falling out hair but hoping that will sort itself out very soon

Hi im 20 and very scared  i have a few symptoms like

    hot flushes

going to the toilet more than usuall

    lower back pain

    heavy periods

    feeling sick

i get a pain like stabbing and then being riped down. in my left side

Cant sleep the night of my period.

    exsess sweating

    pain durring intercourse

    a swollen stomach

    spots

    dry hair falling out

I also got rushed to hospital with severe pain as i just dropped to the floor and cryed.at first they said a kidney stone then pelvic inflammatory then irritable bowl.

this was so upsetting to me that they didn't know what was wrong!. Not long after this I started to have panic attacks, this was a great excuse for them. Its in my head they said and put me on antidepressants.

I knew it wasn't and both sides of my family suffers from endo and i Knew it could be somthing like that i had.

I got rushed into hospital again with the same pain but this time i had a very nice woman, she said it sounds like PCOS she referred me to the urology. They are sending me for an ultrasound scan this friday and an MRI as he still thinks it could be a kidney stone or pelvic inflammatory.

But what scares me the most is my pain in my left side is traveling up to my chest and has made my heart rate go too fast so im on betablockers sad this is horrible they make me out of breath and verry scaerd. I read that cysts can make your heart rate do this so would like to hear if any one has had this problem.

Hi, I'm not sure if you know this by now as i see that your post is quite old but people with pcos will always have cycts. Cysts are causes by the fct that your hormones are imbalanced, when your ovaries produce an egg, the egg comes out too mature and therefore dies. attaching itself to your ovaries and causing cysts. I too have pcos and along with the many problems, i suffered with constant cycts bursting making me dizzy, in excessive pain, hot and sometimes nauseaus. I have been to many doctors who always prescribe the contraseptive pill, the truth is that thse pills only induce bleeding and cannot hepl with pcos, plus they actually decrease the chances of falling pregnant too. After much research, i went to the source of the problem and found products from SOLAL TECHNOLOGIES including, D-Chiro Innositol( the main medication), Alpha Liptoic Acid, Chromium, Folic Acid. I've been on these suppliments for a few months now and it's the only thing that actually works, no more pain or pcos symptoms, weight is normal, ovulation is normal and i get my menstrual cycle every 30-35 days ( which is way better than once in a blue moon). I'm not a doctor but I would recomend that you read up on these suppliments and maybe give it e try. I hope it's helpfull. x

Hmm. One had my hormones tested twice thinking I was in early menopause as every third period cycle, I'm about 9 days late. Very bleeding. Seeing a pattern we tested during those months. Hormones normal. Thyroid normal. US showed a 4.3 simple functional cyst on right ovary and 1.9 on the left. Starting to cause pain. I believe the reasons I have the cysts and awful bleeding is because I was severely deficient in vit d and b12 and a little low on iron.

Hi. Im 30 years old mother with 2 children to normal deliveries.

Im unsure when this was posted but i think iv something not right down there.

I had stage 3 cancer cells and got them treated few yrs bk & was ment to go every 3 months but i neglected myself & didnt go for 3 years until irregular bleeding started (bleeding 3weeks out of 4) which was at least 6months ago. My smear came back clear but nothing was said about the bleeding & my cycle was always exactly the same. Tho for 2 months now iv had persistent period lik pains has started in my left side and recently moving to my right on and off & sum sharp pains have happened. The past 3 days im now feeling v nauseous & have been getting pretty bad sweat for at least 6months also.

I have already a gyne appointment coming up but i have just went to dr about the pain (was forced to go) & she sent me on my way with nothing, no answers, just said u have to wait on ur appointment which cud b at least mid summer!!!! I am gutted as this cud not b normal & im doubled over with it & continus to worsen & is more painful if im on my feet or active in anyway.

Can any1 shed any light on this for me. Could it b cyts i have? The pain is sucking the life out of me & i just feel drained & tired all the time!!!

    Thank you

    Hi,

i am a 58 year old and have just come out of a four month uncertain worrying  journey with symptoms of ovarian cyst and ovarian cancer.

Everyones symptoms vary, but here is my story.

    Stitch pain in right side

Dull heavy dragging feeling in groin area

    Extreem tiredness

    Abdominal bloating

    Constipated

The need to wee more often

    Slight cough

    Slight weight gain

    Pain under rib cage

    Nausiness

Pain between shoulder blades then lower back.

The first two symptoms were the first indication that something was wrong.

After four days I went to my doctor who took a blood test called a CA125 which came back as 39 which indicated there may be an ovarian problem.

I was sent for an Ultra Scan which showed up a 10 cms mass on my right ovary. I then was sent for a CT scan which showed that the mass had grown to 13cms and that there was a bilateral 6cms cyst now on my left ovary.

By this time over a month had gone by, but this was quickly growing.

I was then told that it was a Compex Cyst which had a solid area in it which the specialist did not like the look of and therefore I was now going to be referred to another hospital who specialised in Cancer gyny operations and another consultant.  I was resigned to the fact that I had Cancer as it runs through my family historically. It was a very difficult time, but I had every faith in the treatment and surgeon.

I was then given a date for my operation to remove both ovaries and a full abdominal hysterectomy to make sure they had everything which may turn cancerous at a later date.  They could not do key hole surgery because of the size and that it may be cancerous. I had the operation on theTuesday and was fit and well to leave Thursday afternoon.  I then received the results of the biopsy the following week which was benign.

let me tell you ladies I'm in cloud nine, also the knowledge that I will not have gyny problems in the future.

if you have at least two of the symptoms I've listed, get it checked out at your doctors immediately, don't leave it like most of us do....( I'd been feeling extreme tiredness for over a year and groin heaviness ).....go seek advice as ovary cysts get bigger and may rupture and then key hole is out of the question.

I hope this helps someone out there.....don't be afraid. Everyone will be there to support your journey as they were with mine.

I've had a 6cm simple right ovary cyst since they stumbled over it about 10 months ago.

It has not grown nor do I have pain or cramps.

My symptoms for 2 years were light headedness and severe nausea but no pain.

This is why they did an ultrasound and I had an endoscopy too.

I was told that a cyst would not cause nausea and dizzy unless it was twisted or ruptured but the BIG but is I could have these symptoms but there would be pain too.

Oh yes I have had a chronic cough since last year.

I have had all the tests for coughing and lungs had a scope down my throat amongst so so many others all tests normal.

I was actually hoping that my nausea and light headed feelings were from the cyst growing but my obgyn said nope!

What is your thoughts and your doc say about symptoms ?

      Hello Robin,

sorry for the delay I'm having problems with my computer. I had nausea and dizziness with no pain when I had these symptoms, so I think that these symptoms are most probably caused by the cyst. Remember that the cyst is actively giving out hormones which could cause nausea. As you've had many other medical tests to rule out other medical conditions I would personally want the cyst removed. In the meantime you could get a medication to stop the nausea. Go back to your doctor and tell them you'd feel happier getting it removed. You would also be able to get it key hole surgery because of the size rather than wait until it got bigger and have to get an abdominal operation. Tell the doctor it is now affecting your health and sanity. Hope this helps, I'm so sorry you are going through this. At least it is a simple cyst and nit a complex cyst, but it is still making daily life difficult. X
