Testicular/groin pain and ultrasound?

Posted , 8 users are following.

Hi everyone, ive been suffering with quite a constant, dull pain in my testicles (mainly right one) and it sends shooting pains through my groins. Im trying medication the docs gave me but i also went for a ultrasound today to try and get to the bottom of it. my questions are.....does anybody suffer with similar symptons and what did they discover? Also, i noticed loads of red spots on my scans from ultrasound which have me worried beyond belief i really hope someone knows something about this aswell, as i what they mean etc.

look forward to getting some replies!

Could be epiditimitis or something you had an ultrasound and if it was torsion they would have told you right then and there (requires immediate surgery).

Also red dots are just blood flow nothing to worry about you could also have a hernia.

hello I too had severe pains in testicles. Started off with ER visits for torsion which was ruled out. 3 ultrasounds and an MRI revealed healthy testicles. Cancer was ruled out. But I had a hematoma that was like a third testicle. Pains would not go away. Hematoma grew so they removed it and still the pains got worse in both. They tried everything possible including all types of narcotics. All failed so I had a radical left inguinal orchiectomy. Now the one remaining hurts even worse. Unfortunately I have been given zero answers and they have no medical reason as to why I should keep the one thing that causes me level 10 pains. Kind of like a rotting tooth. They told me they would remove it if it hurt post lefty removal but have backed off that diagnoses. Pain blocks scheduled to see what happens next. I seem to fall outside of every protocol. I hope your situation gets replies to also help me find possible answers

I had torsion when I was 13 the Dr miss diagnosed it and never did an ultrasound like he should have which resulted in me having to get my right testicle removed. Removing your one remaining testicle is probably not the smartest move as thats where testosterone is made if they remove it you will be on hormone replacement forr the rest of your life. It sounds like they have run all the tests they can but did they check for a hernia or SI joint issues I have heard that if your SI joint acts up pain can be felt in the testicles (you would most likely be having hip and back pain as well though as the SI joint is in the pelvis). I hope they find your issue im dealing with testicle pain as well after a failed hydrocelectomy im due to have another procedure done to try to fix it again on the 23rd of this month, good luck.

hi patsfan and timjnr, i thought id let you know that the actual cause of my testicular pain was PROSTATITIS. its a fairly common condition due to uti infections. anyways i have been on a course of antibiotics and the pain has dissappeared!   i dont know if this is any help but who knows, the human anatomy is a funny old thing! good luck everyone

      Hi patsfan5777,

Since my last posting I have been told I will have to have my remaining testicle removed as there is nothing the pain management team can offer. I was told I will be on outpatient procedures and Oxycodone the rest of my life if I decide to try and save it. It has been agreed upon that the testosterone treatment would be less invasive, and easier to manage. Plus I will be able to drive once more. Oxycodone and I lose driving privileges for life. At 47 not ready for that just yet. Surgery is scheduled for this month

Merry Christmas I guess. At least I will never feel testicle pain again. They are doing inguinal orchiectomy so I will not suffer phantom pains

Sorry to hear that but I guess it's better than living in constant pain, I had an inguinal orchiectomy when I was 13 for torsion of the right testicle and I can say I never had any phantom pain sometimes I think it's still there. Well I hope things look up for you after the surgery you might want to consider testicular implants I have one and neither of my ex wives could tell it was fake you can only tell now because my left one is the size of an egg from the hydrocele. In any event have a merry Christmas as well (as merry as it can be that is) and again good luck.

I have had testicular pain from prostatitis several times. This time after other recent prostatitis symptoms went  the left testicular pain continued and worsened going up into my abdomen.

My GP did an examination and said that I had Epididymitis and gave me a week’s course of Cipro. The pain eased around day four but returned worse after a couple of days before finishing the course.

I phoned my GP and he thought that I had perhaps had two infections

and that Cipro had cleared up the first but not the second and gave me another antibiotic. I finished that three days ago and the pain is still increasing.

I have a urology appointment for something else in the pipeline and wonder if I should wait to see what they think.

      Hi derek76,

I am sorry to hear this kind of news as I still suffer myself. My situation became even worse when my Urologist tells me he is "not comfortable" in finishing my surgeries. So now I'm forced to basically start all over with a new family doctor, and work my way back to yet another urologist in the same department. So frustrating when I personally have known all along that by simply removing both testicles I would be back at work by now fully recovered with post op testosterone treatments. The left testicle was removed via inguinal orchiectomy which by the way was my second surgery. They tried telling me all kinds of things about reffered pain and sent me to a pain specialist team. They in turn told me they had nothing for me and would not subject me to pain blocks for life that will not work anyhow or a lifetime of Oxycodone so they recommended a right inguinal orchiectomy. I then met with my family doctor who backed this solution and referred me to the department of endocrinology last week they met with me and are on board "1000 percent " with the removal of my remaining testicle. Basically saying if it hurts simply remove it. They also informed me of a lot of misinformation existing on testosterone and the treatments of testosterone. For example apply gel and then touch partner can cause a heart attack is false once the gel is dry. Your local endocrinologist can inform you on these issues. It sure was a relief to hear this that yes blood counts will be a concern but can be monitored. So I meet with urologist #2 on the 13th and will schedule my final surgery. I am told it will be much easier to manage testosterone treatments than nerve pain in the testicles. Something I knew from day one 6 months ago. I would definitely bring up nerve pains with your doctor as they thought mine was a double infection. After they thought it was torsion and also after they thought it was a hernia. I have had at least 5 different diagnoses. I wish you the best

Hi Derek im really sorry to hear your suffering just live us guys! Firstly I really need to say that CIPRO made things ten times worse for me I'll never use that drug again!! Side effects are horrendous and it's got really bad feedback and press from users. I like yourself have had prostatitis and after finally seeing a decent urologist and having colonoscopy done i was given DOXCYCLINE and they worked a treat!! My pain has subsided and isn't too bad at all a i still get the odd discomfort. I'm not saying that this will be your saviour but it's definitely worth mentioning and maybe trying. If it's something other than prostatitis though like timjnr then more drastic action may be required. It's a shame were all not filthy rich and can walk into any top private clinic and just get done what we want, we do know our own bodies after all there's too much dancing around the mulberry bush to get investigations and procedures done and in meantime pain intensifies and quality of life diminishes!! May also depend on where in the world you're at? I'm in UK on nhs so that speaks for itself...in usa you have to have your own medical insurance etc so I don't know how that work?!?! Good luck and stayin touch folks!

These are great replies keeping in mind that every one of us is differenent of course. I truly hope no one would have to endure the pain we know so well. I am excited to see us keeping the communication open. Even if it just helps one man out there somewhere list in all the shame. I am just sick of being told to go home take two of these and you'll be fine. Maybe for most this is true. I just happen to fall outside every known protocol. USA insurance has just sent me in circles. Too many times I have had doctors shrug their shoulders and it took endocrinology to finally wake my urologists up and help me resolve this pain. I will definitely keep everyone up to date after my next appointment.

Hi All, just finding this forum has made me feel better! I thought I was the only one suffering. Bit about my condition and where I'm at, at the moment. Last year I was found to have a slightly raised PSA and had a biopsy then a saturation biopsy and great news was no cancer. I was anti biopics and all seemed to clear up. However a year later something has flared again and the pain is worse than before. Lower back pain, abdomen pain which seems to move around and testicle pain again this seems to move around. Of course the usual poor urine flow and the urge to pee more. Had a visit to the Urologists last week and he has checked my prostate, urine sample, blood sample and gave me 5 day course of CIP, which has not done any good. I have an ultrasound on 25 th February however after reading this forum I'm convinced I have PrOstatitis. What type, not sure. I've always been fit and honestly this has knocked me for six but its nice to know I'm not the only sufferer.

      Hi peter8591,

I absolutely know how you feel. I too thought I was alone. Not even close. My pain used to dance as I referred to it....from lefty to righty to both and then again yet never in the exact same pattern. My lower back only started hurting due to all the lurching I did while in pain. Then when I mentioned this back pain all of a sudden they wanted to associate the testical pain with the lower back pain. Not even close for me as I always reminded them it was my testicles that remained the dominant source of pain. Mine were coming in at waves of about every other minute with the twisting pains and constant grabbing pains that never went below a three on the 1-10 scale. In fact all these pains increased to level 10-10 after having lefty removed. This is not meant to scare anyone, only hope to assist you in your guide of what to look out for. Mine was all tied into nerve pain, which would've resulted in Surgery anyhow. Some type of robotic surgery after the offending nerve is pinpointed and then face an almost sure event of the testicle operated on ending up dying and shriveling up requiring removal. For me this would have meant I would have endured 5 surgeries instead of the three I had. Hope this helps when you chat with doctors.

One thing I need to mention is at one point they thought I may have had interstitial cystitis usually reserved for females yet found cropping up in more and more males. Even those with testicle pains as my second urologist claimed to know of. They wanted to treat me 3 times a week with some type of meds they inject into your bladder with a catheter...I must say after the first treatment I knew I was yet diagnosed wrong once more. Dr. Parson UCSD has extensive research in this particular affliction. Worth looking at as you research like we all do...

M GP calls Epididymitis the male version of cystitis.

Thanks Tim for the info. It's interesting you mention linked to nerves, never really thought of that but definitely food for thought. I have to drive 60 miles to work and back and the pain in my testicles is really uncomfortable. I feel nauseous too, ever get that? But your right the main pain is my testicles. Getting me down at the moment think it will make me better just knowing what the cause is. Reading these letters I'm 99% certain it is PrOstatitis I just hope I don't suffer as much as some of you guys.

      Hi peter8591,

Yes I would bring this up with your Dr. They may suggest pain blocks. For some this may be the answer you're seeking. Didn't help me unfortunately. My chiropractor swears he could have been able to cure my testical pain with simple back treatments. Ahhhh no. Keep in mind I had been given 4 types of narcotics and 4 or 5 ibuprofen types, and at least 5 different steroids of which not a single one helped. I truly hope no one else suffers as I did. Pains all gone now, only after having them both removed. A few times I knew the Dr.'s didn't actually believe I was suffering as much as I claimed. That is until other patients showed concern. Hmmmm. I actually had one Dr. tell me they needed my bed for someone who needs it more than I. Lodged a complaint for what it's worth.
