Testicular Implants - Are There Any Weight Issues?

Hi

I've gone through a lot of the published research on prosthetic testicles and had a talk with a medical specialist about having an implant (to substitute the one I lost). He told me that all of his patients have complained about weight issues, and that if you want an implant to match your remaining one in size, it'll be relatively heavy. He told me it was like constantly having a bunch of coins in your pocket, and that I'll always be nagged by the sensation of something not belonging to my body just hanging around on my person.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I've read nothing of the sort in the medical literature, and he's only performed the operation on three patients. But I want to make sure before I make my decision. Any advice?

Carrying extra weight in your body is not excatly an idea of having increases quality of life, especially when they are only prosthetic and have no biological value.

What? My false teeth probably weigh more and they have no biological value either.  In order to accommodate my prosthese I have to behave like any other man, it that how you behave?  Do you even know what I mean?

I'm not in any way ashamed of being seen naked, I look just like any other man my age.  I feel better about myself, when I see myself I'm proud of what I have.  There's more to quality of life than biological function.   And as the saying goes, "Don't knock it until you've tried it."

    Hello,

I have never heard of a doctor responding like that.  I don't find having two prosthetic testes as being like having anything in my pockets.  cheesygrin

However, I'm not and haven't been in your position since I was 12 or 13, when my testes were normal.   And then when I got my first set of prostheses they were so small and hard they didn't really do the required job, plus I also had my natural testes as well, that is bizarre!

What is the design of the prosthesis you're considering?    Both of mine are gel filled silicione.  If you're American, that type will not be available for you as the FDA has only approved saline filled silicone.  I'm not sure which type would have the greatest weight?   I suppose the gel filled variety would be heavier as they're more dense.

I consider my second set of prostheses as good as natural testes, when it comes to feel and appearance.  I can't offer any advice as to how a single prosthetic would feel in the company of a normal natural testis as when I had both, my natural testes were by no means normal.  They were both atrophied.

I don't have a problem with the weight of my balls, but they're both the same so I wouldn't, I suppose?  However I'm assured normally one ball hangs lower than the other, mine don't appear to do that.  There's not really a lot of room in my scrotum to allow that, but you will have sufficient room.

Those are all the ideas I can come up with, oh other than you might like to track down another, more experienced, surgeon?

    HTH.
