Tibolone & severe joint aches

Posted , 6 users are following.

?have been on Tibolone I ?have given it a good 4 to 6 months, ?each and every time I have had the joint aches persist. I ?have tracked these to be monthly as I ?have had a dose of ross river and parvovirus this year which the rheumatologist has put me on plaquenil for.  ?The thing is the joint aches continue and they only began when i commenced the Tibolon/Xyvion.  I ?am 50 next year and the crashing fatigue and joint aches I ?get are really limiting my daily activities and I ?had to give up work in July. ? Today I ?have been given a list of tests to do on Monday including FSH, ?oestrogen progesterone etc. T?hese have not been done for ages and the specialist is wanting to check , ?whereas the GP said no use testing oestrogen as im on HRT .  Im really over it , ?I am an older mum and need to be bouncing about not lolling down feeling sorry for myself.

I hope you can find out something more suitable to help out. We are all in same boat trying to find out some answers. My main problem is low mood and that feeling of nothing. So I really don't know how to get over it.

Hi cec87474.  I was wondering about your joint pain? did it start when you started taking Tiolone I'm not clear?  Also when do you have the joint pain, what time of day or when doing exercise or other? I have been on tibolone for about 2 years now, as well as the horrid menopause symptoms, I have arthritis and was told by my GP that Tibolone helps with this which is why I decided to take it? Now I seem to have a more all over pain in my muscles when I wake up in the morning.  It wears off after half an hour or so.  I don't remember having this type of pain before I took the pills. What is your experience please?  thank you

Hi Caro94808 I've only been taking Livial for 18 days but appear to have developed an allergy to it. Severe muscle pains (I have arthritis too), abdominal pain, back pain. Worse in the night and morning. I feel dizzy as well so I am stopping taking it. I would rather have menopausal symptoms! I'm exhausted and tired with the smallest things. The pain is awful.

well i do have the pain all the time atm as i stopped tibolone, saw gp yesterday a different one as mine on leave. She said it would not be tibolone and to continue.  I was only getting the aches monthly like on a cycle, but as i have had an ablation , i do not get a period so i have tracked it to monthly.  I also have suffered this year with reactive arthritis as i did have ross river plus human parvovirus combined with the fact i have coeliac disease which is auto immune so all these combined were said by rheumatologist to lead to the arthropathy.  All rheumatoid tests to date have been negative.  I am on plaquenil at night for the arthropathy which is meant to clear.  I just dont know which way to turn really my gp is back in late dec so will continue on the tibolone as stopping them was horrendous. my FSH was 96 yesterday as well.

      Hi Cec

I'm not sure yet hard to tell as I have been travelling a lot and had a rather disrupted lifestyle recently also have been doing a lot of physical work in garden and on farm so have quite a lot of aches and pains and not sleeping well at the moment.  I think I need to give it more time now that I'm home again. Will keep you posted.
