Tinnitus trouble with audiologist

Had anyone else had issues with tinnitus during a hearing test?

I was recently diagnosed with Menieres and have episodes of tinnitus and fluctuating hearing loss that occur with flare ups.

Recently I had an audiologist appointment during a time with very loud tinnitus. I'd told the audiologist this at the beginning of the session but she didn't seem to acknowledge it.

I had great difficulty hearing tones through the tinnitus, but was relatively able to hear speech. Only 10% deficient in speech recognition.

Following they did a test and found that my auditory nerve was still detecting the tones, I just want responding to them.

My doctor, following this, got angry and claimed that it didn't add up.

To me, it made sense that tones are harder to hear when you have reverberation and ringing in your ears, but he is thinking I need an abr due to this one weird test during a flair up.

Again, anyone else having similar issues? Should I find a new ENT/audiologist?

A second opinion would be good.

Never be bullied by your practioner, always get a second and even a third diagnosis. After all you are paying for it and if they won't respond with a more then harrump, run!

Next time just ask them to warble the tone. It makes it easier to pick out from all of the sounds.
