Trouble breathing through left nostril, possibly caused by cleft lip & pallet

Hello! I have constant trouble breathing through my left nostril. I feel like it hasn't always been this way, but I don't quite remember. It feels like there's something blocking it deep inside. I can breath through it but its about 3-4x less effective than my right nostril. Basically I can barely breath through it. It's almost like I want to stick a tubular straw in there so I can feel what it's like to regularly breath through it. I'm guessing it's caused by complications from my cleft lip/pallet. but I don't know if it's actually obstructed by congestion or if the passageway is deformed from it. When I try and meditate it gets annoying, I just want to breath like a normal person. Also I notice it sometimes makes my voice nasaly.. Any suggestions?

the only way to find out is to get and check out by a specialist. A CT scan, you could have deviated septum, or enlarged turbinates, maybe allergies, but if it's only one side it's more likley physical.

have you been to an ENT?

Not for a long time, no health insurance now and little to no help from family, so it's not really an option

what you could try is saline solution, rince your sinuses regulalry. It's cheap and might help.

Is there a public health system where you are? It should be free, but usually there is a long waiting list. For me it took only 6 mnth or so, but I was advised not have further surgeries, coz mine is cause by allergies.

But getting a sinus CT you might not even need a specialist, your GP can send you, and doesn't need a specialist either to figure out if there is anything wrong there. As long as you are not diagnosed it's very hard to give you a proper advice. But the saline solution however is harmless and for some people it provides a great benefit.
