Unpleasant smell from the nose last 2 months

Hi,

From last March 2016 onwards I have the problem of burning smell in my nose. It starts suddenly without any warning. I did CT scan for Sinusitis & MRI scan for scull. Consulted ENT & Neuro specialists. Nothing found But the smell daily started in the afternoon some times from the morning itself. It is not continously it is coming continually.

Finally I was asked to see a Psychiatrist. He prescribed Amisulpride 25mg in the morning and 50mg in the night.(Not yet started & waiting for a good advice)

I am 63 years old and I alredy taking Clonazpem 1 mg and Concor 2.5 mg everyday at bed time for my Panic disorder for the last 8 years.

I have No Sugar, No BP and no more any other issues. Recently I am suffered of or unable to do sex. Other than that I am quite OK.

Any Good doctors or specialists please advice me in this regard.

Sofar I was a worriless person. Now becoz of the smell I am little disturbed. Pls advice.

    Does your nose seem very dry? Go to an ENT and have an endoscopy done. This is a key symptom of Atrophic Rhinitis.

      No, I don't have such a problem. This is something called Phantosomia (unpleasant smell in the nose). Also I did endoscopic and have no issues.

    Might a nasal rinse (e.g. Neti pot) help relieve the symptoms until you can get to the bottom of it?

    You could ask your GP to refer you to a specialist smell clinic such as the one in Birmingham. There are details on the Fifth Sense charity website. Good luck.

      I am from India.

      I thin I am the first Asian got this type of problem. Becoz I have not seen any one complaint from Asian sides and no reply also. But I can follow your advice. Now I am taking Indian medicine and I am getting better except some time. I hope I will be completely cured soon. Unfortunately I unable to provide the medicine name since it is available only from our side. Very good and comfortable. But little long procedure, minimum 3 months time. Anyhow thank you so much for your advice. My doctor also told me to do, but I didn't. Becoz the medicine works good & me too feeling well. But better I can rinse my nose at least daily once with some pure water with netipot.
