A morning rush to the toilet is common if you have IBS D, though everyone is different.  I first had IBS C then IBS A with stomach pain and nausea.  I did not experience a morning urgency though.  My pain is now mild and  I rarely take any medication but I still get constipation and have to coax my bowel to work with fruit.

Drink more water... carry it with you.  Your intestines needs more water to digest the food properly and it's even better if you drink a glass before each meal to help digestion.  This has helped my IBS .. not cured it.  I still get the sharp pains but that urge to go quickly (or else!) has become very infrequent.  I'm hoping if I increase the water I drink it will help even more.    Some people are helped with Probiotics like ALIGN... but it didn't help me at all.

Both the above people are right. Also make sure you eat some cereal and fruit for breakfast. Did your doctor give you any PPI's? I would be surprised if he hasn't. They have sort of become standard. Diet plays a big part in how your bowels react, so eat little and often.
