UTI-Please help with my constant fatigue and lack of motivation

Beginning August I went on a tour to a remote town for work and when I came back I had high fever accompanied with rash. I was given anti biotic but the reason behind the rash could not be diagnosed. Even when the fever was gone I felt extremely lethargic and once even fell asleep during an online meeting. I couldn't work because of how sleepy I felt. On Aug 20 I got married and I had high fever after a few days. The blood test showed high SGPT. I was given antibiotics again and I recovered from the fever. But I couldn't just find the drive to go to work. So I got thorough tests done and the test results show I have UTI and fall under ESBL so I am now taking intravenous antibiotics. It is day 6 now of my antibiotic course but I still feel like crap - tired, demotivated, sleepy, occasional cramps (which goes away with a good bowel movement), gas, cough, angry. I haven't been to work for over a month and that is adding to the stress. I am a smoker although I am smoking much less now. I am also on oral contraceptives since my marriage on Aug 20.

Not sure what kind of doc your seeing. Should be seeing a infectious disease specialist ?

SGPT usually indicates problems with the liver (which would certainly explain your extreme fatigue) and/or the heart.  The intestinal distress could be a bi-product of all the antibiotics.

How thorough was your testing?  Were you tested for Hepatitis?  Mononucleosis?  Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever?  Some variety of Toxic Shock?  There are so many.  Also, it's very dangerous to smoke along with oral contraceptives.  Doing so increases dramatically the chance of heart attack or stroke.

Hi there, I just was reading your post, I am sorry to hear you have been feeling so sick. When your body is fighting off bugs, it is not uncommon to feel fatigued, as well as being on antibiotics they can make you feel sleepy and unwell as it wipes out all the good bacteria in your body as well as the bad.  Are they saying the UTI is what is causing the high fevers and rash, or are they two separate infections?  Some of the bacterias are becoming more resistant to antibiotics, it is important they do an actual culture to find out what bacteria the body is fighting and make sure that antibiotic will kill it off.  The cramps could be from the medication as antibiotics are hard on the digestive tract.  Oral contraceptives can also play a role in feeling blah because they do alter your hormones and until your body is used to the new cycles you can have some effects from that.  It sounds that you have had a lot going on and your immune system is depleated, so I would try and boost that, and get another culture done on your urine to make sure the bacteria is gone.  I hope you start feeling better soon.  It is hard on the emotions when one is down and out.

I got my culture done and it showed up E coli bacteria and that I am resistant to all oral antibiotics. The high fever with the rash must have been a different bacteria because I wasn't married at that time and the UTI, I am sure, is what they call the honeymoon cystitis. Not sure what caused the second high fever right after I got married. Right now I feel like getting married at this age sucks big time and is to blame for everything. I am going off the pills after this cycle. No condoms and you are just not getting lucky. After feeling like holy crap for over two months (3 times fever, painful UTI, not being able to get up from bed, IBS, perhaps I will also lose my job) I feel I have just had enough. I will get another culture done after the antibiotics course is complete.

Thank you for your kind reply I really appreciate it.

In june I was in the hospital. Had a op. Was back in in a week . Temp was 103. They gave me MRSA. Spent a week in getting IV anti biotics. 1 every 8 hours. Another every 12 hours. Kept it from getting to my blood stream. I know a guy got it twice. Was in for 2 weeks each time. It got to his blood stream. I was told only time will tell if it's gone or I am a carrier. So far do good.
