Very unsure - Uneven back muscles and left shoulder is higher
Posted , 5 users are following.
Hello. I've noticed that there is a significant muscle/size difference between the left and right side of my back, with my right side being bigger. Also, I saw that my left shoulder looks higher than my right. Is there a way to correct this issue? or is this a permanent problem? Is it scoliosis? What might have caused this?
I have no pain and only found out about this when it was pointed out by a friend.
Here is an album of 3 photos of my back (One of the photos I'm putting my shoulders up unevenly on purpose)

It's definitely something you should get checked out, but you will need an x-Ray to show what is actually happening.
The Scoliosis SOS clinic is good if you can afford it or are luck enough to live in an area where your NHS Primary care trust will pay! It's hit and miss I'm afraid.
See your gp and express your concerns and ask for sn X-ray.
There often is no pain with scoliosis when you're younger it starts to cause wear and tear in the bones in your 30s in average, but everyone is different.
Good luck!

My curve was also in my upper back and my back looked really similar to yours. I also had uneven shoulders, my left shoulder was lower that the right one due to the curve. The doctors usually check by asking you to touch your toes because the hump becomes more obvious and the spine more visable so you may want to do that also and you might be able to actually trace the curve in your spine.
Also, how old are you? Because age usually tells indicates how long you got left to grow and therefore how much the curve will progress
In terms of treatment, it's either bracing with doesn't fix the curve but stops progression or surgery like I had 4 weeks ago which amends both the curve and the hump. However they say surgery is only plausible when the curve is 50 degrees or over.
I hope this helped, please bear in mind that I might be completely wrong about your case looking like scoliosis, I'm no expert. And it takes your gp to actually see you person to person and do a check up then refer you to a hospital and take an x-Ray to diagnose scoliosis. Although I was just going by my experience. I don't know, it might just be...something else? Anyway hoped this helped.

I agree.....it needs checking out.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis about 5 years ago.....previous to that people kept saying to me "is there nothing they can do about it" I wasnt in pain and it hadn't been diagnosed. The only thing was when I put certain trousers on the left leg {of trousers } was slightly shorter.....Thats because my spine was corved a little.
Now it is really painful
