Zanaflex for migraines?

My neuro has now added Zanaflex on top of my list of meds I already take to help with muscle spasms in my neck that could be either creating my migraines or making them worse. Anybody else take this? It says it's treating patients that have MS or spinal cord injury..? I took one and it knocked me out. Don't know if it will really help and would like to know if it's worth taking.

Don't know that med but I have cervical dystonia and migraine. I take clonazepam as a muscle relaxant and propranolol for tremor.

im interested in your muscle spasms in your neck, sounds like cervical dystonia ? Does your neuro specialise in movement disorders ? Has he/she considered dystonia ?

i take triptans once I have a migraine but I would add that since I've been on propranolol I don't get headaches any more just migraine episode approx once a month,

    kind regards

He just says I'm just gonna be the type that always migraines. I have been propranalol before and it made my blood pressure drop too much so he took me off it. I've also been on metropolol..for high bp and it made my eyes so blurry I couldn't drive. He put me on a diuretic to use during my mensural cycle because they get worse then too and with bad weather. He's not a very good Neuro..he has never said what kind of migraines I'm having or anything. Everytime I go every 3 months it's either a change of meds or add new ones. I am however better than I was when I first started going there. I used to have daily migraines and now it's like twice a week.

I have very low blood pressure normally 90/65 but my neuro put me on 80mg of slow release propranolol and it doesn't lower it anymore.

Sounds like you're seeing the neuro regularly so I would ask what's causing the neck spasm and mention cervical dystonia. You can always ask to be referred to a specialist  neuro, this is what I did as my first neuro generalised.
