Indigestion

The term "indigestion" encompasses a range of digestive symptoms and is a common problem that affects many people, usually after eating or drinking. It is generally associated with pain or discomfort felt in the stomach. It is caused by stomach acid coming in contact the sensitive, protective lining of the digestive system. The acid breaks down the protective lining, which leads to irritation and soreness.

Heartburn

When we eat food, our stomach produces acid to help digest it. A meal can stay in the stomach for up to 4 hours. Our stomach has a lining which protects it from the acid. In some cases, the stomach acid rises up into to the oesophagus (food pipe) and throat where we don't have a protective lining, causing a burning sensation in the chest and/or bitter acidic taste in the mouth or throat. This is Heartburn (also referred to Acid Reflux) and is a common condition affecting many people. Heartburn can also result in sleepness nights because of the pain and discomfort.
