As the summer holidays draw to an end, parents are hurriedly purchasing new uniforms and pencil cases to prepare their young ones for another academic year. But what most forget is that their children will be waving goodbye to six weeks of running around and being outside. Recent figures show that one third of 10- to 11-year-olds and more than one fifth of four-to five-year-olds are overweight or obese.
But, this isn't just a trend among children. With UK figures highlighting that 24.3% of men and 26.8% of women are obese, these startling statistics suggest a huge need for us more than ever to be more active.
