Staying in good shape through diet and exercise can help prevent womb cancer from developing according to a recent study from the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).1
The study collated information from 159 cases of womb cancer and found that excessive body fat in women increases their chances of developing womb cancer throughout their lifetime. Researchers also claimed that as many as four out of 10 cases of womb cancer could be avoided with better eating habits and more exercise.
The study recommended women kept their BMI somewhere between 18.5 and 25 and exercised for 30 minutes each day. Any kind of physical activity is recommended, whether it be recreational, a little gardening or some vigorous housework. The study also claimed that coffee could also contribute to avoiding disease, but added that "a lot more work still needed to be done" on researching that link.
Womb cancer is one of the most common types of cancer a woman can develop, with most sufferers developing the disease after the menopause.
