How to make lasagne


500g minced beef

9-11 sheets of lasagne noodles

2 tsp. of oregano (dried and fresh)

1 tsp. mixed herbs

300g ricotta cheese

2 gloves of garlic, minced

1 tsp. salt

1 tin of crushed/chopped tomatoes

½ tsp. ground black pepper

1 tsp. white sugar

Parmesan cheese

1 tsp. olive oil

2 minced onions

- Pour water into a saucepan and add salt. Then heat up to a boil

- Meanwhile, heat up a large frying pan and place in the olive oil. Place on a medium heat

- Add the minced beef to the frying pan and cook until light brown

- Take the meat out of the pan and put to the side in a bowl, then add the onions, peas and yellow peppers to the frying pan. Cook till the onions are golden

- Then add the mince garlic and oregano and cook for 30 seconds

- Add the minced beef back into the pan and cook together for 5 minutes

- Pour the tin of tomatoes into the mixture, also add the herbs and seasoning. Reduce the heat and cook for 7 minutes

- Go back to your boiling water and place all of the lasagne noodles into the pan. Cook for the recommend time it says on the package. Make sure to stir repeatedly

- Once cooked, drain the pasta and separate each piece

- Get an oven dish and place one thin layer of meat mixture into the dish, make sure it covers the bottom of the dish

- Then place a layer of lasagne over the top, this should be 3 – 4 noodles

- After this, add a layer of cheese – both the ricotta and parmesan

- Repeat this process of layering 2-3 more times. With the layers going in the order of meat, pasta and cheese

- The top layer should be a cheese layer

- Place the dish into the oven on 200°C. Cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until golden in colour

- Once cooked, let it rest for 5-10 minutes and then serve
