How to make scones


220g self-rising flour

50g butter

125ml milk

30g caster sugar

1 large egg


- Preheat the oven to 220°C

- Place the flour into a mixing bowl and then add butter that is at room-temperature

- Using your fingers mix the ingredients together until the mixture has a breadcrumb texture

- Then add the sugar and milk into the mixture. Mix and then knead until it turns into a soft dough

- Cut the dough up into 8-12 smaller piece and flatten each piece. Make sure it has a thickness of 2-3 cm and is a rounded shape

- Get a baking tray and place a baking sheet in it. Grease this with butter

- Beat the egg in a small bowl, and the glaze the scones lightly with the egg mixture

- Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until a golden colour

- Cool on a rack and add your desired toppings
