Momentum is a leading UK provider of rehabilitation and training, empowering disabled and excluded people to gain the skills they need to live independently and to gain access to employment. Established in 1990, the organisation now operates from a wide number of locations across the country.
Momentum's programmes put people at the heart of what it does, supporting them to remain active in their communities. Some of its service users need support to rebuild their lives following an accident or illness; others will be aiming to find their first job.
Momentum delivers services throughout the UK, with programmes in the areas of brain injury, spinal injury, mental health, physical disability, learning disability, employment, care and supported living, social enterprise and community rehabilitation.
Momentum develops and delivers innovative, individually tailored programmes which provide people with skills and support to move forward in their lives. These include vocational skills and the opportunity to study for recognised qualifications in areas such as IT and catering. Momentum also provides training in assistive and adaptive technology to enable disabled people to access computers to enable them live more independently.
In addition, Momentum provides employment for disabled and excluded people through its social enterprise firm, Haven, which operates from a number of key sites across Scotland.
Its care division, Momentum Care, delivers services to people in their own communities, enabling them to live independently in their own homes.
Formerly known as Rehab Scotland, Momentum changed its name in March 2003 to better reflect the positive developments taking place in the organisation as it grew and expanded its services to even more people. Momentum is part of the Rehab Group, an independent not-for-profit organisation working for social and economic inclusion among people with disabilities and others who are marginalised.
