A glorious Royal Parks Half Marathon

This was the scene in Hyde Park at around 8:30 on Sunday morning as the 12,500 participants in this year's Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon gathered before the start of the run. Recent rain had turned some of the grass to mud, but that wouldn't affect the path-and-road course. And, blissfully, the sun was breaking through to create a perfect autumn day. There was also a separate three kilometre race for 11-16 year-olds, which, I'm proud to say, one of my sons and two of his friends took part in. I was pleasantly surprised by my time of 1:46:09, and honoured to have been asked by Unicef to be part of its fund-raising team. It was a glorious London day.
