Have you been on a social outing where you've woken up the next day and not remembered bits of the night before? It's possible that you had too much to drink. But it's also possible you may be the victim of a spiked drink.
How would I know and what should I do?
You might wake up somewhere strange and have no recollection of how you got there.
Maybe you remember patches - you're positive you didn't have that much to drink, so why the missing memory? Often, it can be a prank by friends that goes too far, but sometimes there are severe consequences. If your drink is spiked by someone with the intention of rendering you incapable, to rob, or assault you, then this is an entirely different situation.
If you are the victim of a robbery, assault or rape:
- Get in touch with the police or a medical professional immediately
- Go to your nearest A&E (Accident & Emergency) Department.
The sooner you do this, the more likely it is that any drugs in your system are identifiable through blood, urine, or the relatively new spit test, as some substances are difficult to trace after a period of about 12 to 24 hours.
