You can prevent and manage your symptoms by using some using some common-sense techniques:

  • Avoid eating too much food too quickly
  • Control your alcohol intake
  • Try not to eat within two hours of going to bed
  • Try elevating your upper body slightly in bed either by using an extra pillow or placing a book under each of the legs at the head of your bed. This should help to reduce gastric juices entering your oesophagus - especially if you have a hiatus hernia

  • Take steps to reduce your stress levels
