Turning back the clock: how to stop (or slow) signs of ageing – live chat | Emma G Keller

Are you feeling old? Seeing signs of ageing? Lauren Kessler, author of Counterclockwise: My Year of Hypnosis, Hormones, Dark Chocolate, and Other Adventures in the World of Anti-aging, has a few tips. Want to hear more? Kessler will join Guardian readers at 1 pm ET | 6pm BST today, Friday August 16th, for a live chat.

Kessler (who lies about her age all time) is somewhat of an anti-ageing expert. She spent a year investigating how we age and what, if anything, we can do to prevent it. She found that only 30% of time's effect on our bodies is genetic, and the rest is down to lifestyle choices.

Kessler exercised – a lot. She had a bit of laser and needle treatment. She went on a number of fairly extreme diets and read everything she could get her hands on about how she could stop the clock, if not turn it back.

Want to find out what she learned?

Come and join us at 1pm ET/6pm BST.

A few of the topics we'll discuss include:

• What supplements are worth taking and what have no effect at all.

• What actually happens to the bones and muscles in our faces as get older.

• What skin care products work, which don't.

• What foods you absolutely must include in your diet.

If you have any questions, Kessler will answer them – perhaps with her trademark no-nonsense approach. As she puts it: "Ageing is not a disease to be cured, but a natural stage of life." So come to our live chat. And see how much younger you'll feel at the end of an hour.
