This week we've announced a major landmark in the rollout of EMIS Web - over 2,000 GP practices have now upgraded to our transformational healthcare system, making it the most widely used GP system in England.
A total of 2,007 GP practices have moved to EMIS Web, with orders placed for a further 1,200; 2,564 practices have joined the EMIS GP familiarisation service, as a first step to upgrading to the system.
The news - in the 2012 year end results for EMIS Group plc released yesterday - also means that EMIS Web is now the UK's most widely-used hosted clinical system.
The Lydia House Practice in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, became the 2,000th practice to upgrade to EMIS Web when it switched from TPP's SystmOne earlier this week.
I spoke to GP Dr Jamail Sorouji who said the new system was already cutting down consultation times 'dramatically' because it was so easy and intuitive to use. He said: "EMIS Web allows us to work very quickly and accurately, saving several minutes per consultation. That is a lot of time when you are seeing 50 patients per day."
As well as GPs, EMIS Web is also used by a wide range of other healthcare professionals - including community teams across England - to deliver integrated healthcare services. This week, EMIS Group also announced plans to further refine the system to serve the Community Care, Child Health and Mental Health markets.
