This Brief Decision Aid (BDA) was developed from work started as part of The Health Foundation supported MAGIC shared decision making (SDM) programme. BDAs are now produced by Newcastle University in collaboration with patient.info. They draw on the latest condition leaflets from patient.info and include the benefits, risks and consequences of the main evidence-based options. They encourage the patient and doctor (or nurse) to make a decision together, taking account of what is important to the patient. Click for more information on SDM and use of the BDAs, and for more materials to support SDM see http://shareddecisionmaking.health.org.uk/.
