Hi , I have had dodgy bowels for years and years , which tend to kind of flare up every few months or so , currently I have had soft poo for about 3 weeks with undigested food in not diarrhoea as such just a lot softer than normal , maybe 3 times a day sometimes more( sorry 😐but sometimes get constipated too , I get really bloated tummy at times and fart - a lot 😊 which helps with my tummy pain , it seems to be worse after certain foods - sweetcorn, tomato’s, nuts , popcorn , onions, baked beans , pie/ Pizza crusts?? I suffer severe health anxiety so every time I get these flares I panic it’s bowel cancer although never pass blood , and haven’t lost weight , does this sound like IBS ?? Do flare ups last for weeks or not usually ? , is 3 bowel motions a day too much for ibs? had bloods taken this week as finally went to gp but just looking for some advice thanks

However, you should see your doctor to get a firm diagnosis of IBS and rule out other causes.

Hi - All the foods that you've described are enemies to IBS as well as bloated tummy! I panic too when I get these flares too, even though I stay away from those foods (now!) I've really learned the hard way, as I was not diagnosed with IBS until a month ago - this is after two years of not knowing what was going on. Hospitals here are not knowledgeable when it comes to IBS, I stick to the diet, although I have more 'good days' than before, which is a huge bonus, but the 'flare-ups' are just awful.
I'd suggest staying away from the foods you mentioned, and keeping to bland, boring foods for a short time and see how you feel (foods like oatmeal, squash, sweet potatoes, white potatoes and white chicken meat). I know this sounds horrible, but it's worth a try. Oh… and this IBS diet says no oil or chocolate - anything that sounds good, right?
Please let me know how this works,
Janie

You, as well, as everyone with IBS that I've talked to (online), is their worst own enemy! Please, don't feel bad about that. Stressing out after is exactly what I do, thinking the worst - always.
For me, I was doing fairly well, avoiding foods I shouldn't eat, etc. until we were invited to my sister-in-law's wedding. You guessed it lol - I ate everything I should never have touched (cake and all sorts of sweets, followed by a really nice dinner). This was at the beginning of October.
Well, the result was to throw me back to the beginning of all this.
If anything has taught me a lesson, this sure has.
Please, take care of yourself, and all my sincere wishes to you.
I guarantee your blood work will be perfect - mine is, and never shows any problem. In addition to this, IBS patients always look perfectly healthy, so the hospitals in Ontario, Canada, tend to treat us as though we are 'faking symptoms', even though the ambulance personnel knew I wasn't.
I am no doctor, but suspect you have IBS and the temptation to eat normally is so unfair - especially when you've been feeling ok for awhile.
There's no set rule as to what exactly triggers IBS - I only wish I knew. It's probably the worst non-diagnosed illness, and I hate eating a diet that eliminates every single thing I enjoy eating. I love food, and have to prepare food for my hubby every night, and another meal for myself. Keep saying, 'trade you dinners?"…. and he says 'just remember what happens if we do'..lol
