I'm 10 weeks post op hysterectomy, anterior, posterior repair. I went back to work 2 weeks ago but to be honest haven't felt like things were right since the surgery. It feels like there is something low in my vagina and in the upper left I had pain until about 7 weeks then just felt like something was rubbing. Had sex this weekend for the first time and it didn't hurt but felt like something in there. Last night I got so tired of this strange feeling I put my finger in my vagina and I can feel a bunch of prickly stitches at the top of my vagina. Is this normal?

Yes it can take ages for the deeper stitches to dissolve and drop out. You might not even see them if they drop down the loo.
Hope you hubby/ partner didn't get prickled by the stitches, some men do!
Do you have a follow up appointment with your surgeon? Ask him to have a look, but I know my high up stitches were there for a long time.

My one and only follow up was at 6 weeks and he said everything was fine. I had a cough and he told me I had to stop coughing or I would ruin my surgery, of course my cough has gotten worse! Why don't they tell you all this stuff? I can't tell you how many times I have felt like this surgery has failed. I called the doctor's office but no reply yet, usually takes two days, which is annoying! I can't wait until I can feel confident that I have not ruined the surgery. Feeling things prick your vagina does not seem normal, really should warn a person!

They really don't seem to tell you much about the after effects of this surgery. I can remember well the prickley stitch feeling, I think my stitches were starting to dissolve and the short ends were prickling the opposite vaginal wall, It was really hard to stand back up, and had to sit all lopsided on one cheek. It does go, but seems to take ages, the stitches inside are designed to stay in for a long time, so are different to the outside ones-- more annoying!
I got more information from this forum than from anywhere else.

Thank goodness, I just knew I ruined my surgery. Of course the doctor still hasn't called me but I feel much better knowing it's normal to feel the stitches poking me. Kind of like razor wire inside my vagina!
