12 weeks post op

I feel great!!! I am having very little pain and can walk all day without getting worn down.  I mentioned to someone the other day I just had my hip replaced 12 weeks ago and they did not believe me.  I am getting around so good and pain free, I feel as if I have my life back!!!!  I wish everyone's recovery was as good as mine...

      Hi joellynn28

i know exactly what you mean there's not enough good feed back on hear I've heard so many bad things I've talked my self out of having mine I'm glad your doing so well xx

      Hi Karen,

Please don't talk yourself out of it. If you're in pain now , having your hip done is the best thing you can do.

I'm 9 weeks post op and its great to be walking pain free and starting to get my life back.

I'm going back to work on Monday at 10 weeks on a phased return.

I was like most people, terrified of the op. When I came round after surgery I wondered why I'd been so scared. Yes my leg was sore but I was up and walking with no pain on my joint. Every day got better.

So please talk yourself back into having it done. You won't regret it.

      Hi hippy28

thank you for replying im not in as much pain as some people I've learned to live with it . my problem is length I have a 3inch difference so quite a limp even with my shoe step .

i think I've read so many stories of pain suffering and long recovery that I've definitely put self of the idea as I'm a single mum with 4 kids I've had sofa raised bed and all equipment delivered and it all puts me off .

im also not good with pain at all so that really worries me and not being able to bath or shower for 12 weeks is horrendous I love a long hot bath and have no walk in shower I also have a manual car so need to drive asap as have a holiday docked on19th may it's all a mess and very confusing xx

Oh I'm so jealous lol I can't wait to have my hip done as I don't have a life now. I'm just nervous of the op as I have never had one

    Hi John,

So nice to hear successful stories like yourssmile

I too did very well.  At some point I will need my other hip replaced, and I won't hesitate to get it done.

Congrats and wishing you the best!

    Hi John,

Congratulations, I'm at nine weeks and know how you feel.

Yesterday I arranged to have my bed, settee and toilet raisers taken back and for the first time I began to feel normal again and went for a long walk.

I'm going back to work on Monday on a phased return I.e 1 week on and a week off followed by 2 weeks on followed by a week off and then back full time.

It's so good to be pain free and get your life back again. I've started to enjoy walking which I hated before as it hurt so much.

I still do all my exercises every day as I've got into the routine and I still use a stick as a precaution.

    On the whole it's great.
