I’m 2 weeks post op and today my pain has come back in my hip I really feel gutted as I was doing without painkillers is this normal because of exercises and more movement around the house?

tHR is a tough surgery. Allow lots of time for recovery. Don’t overdo exercise regimens. Take pain meds as needed. This applies to all ages.

Yes it is. This will go on for awhile. Go slow and pay close attention to your body. Don't overdo. Even the lightest exercise seems to flare everything up. I am 3 weeks out and it is a lot better but I still have to make sure I don't do too much or it is really painful. This is my their hip replacement and I recall this from the last times as well.
Heat works well when you overdo or ice if you are swollen. Good luck!

Hi there, it is a major surgery so I was also so happy to be pain free but I was not weight bearing for 6 weeks. The muscular pain which is totally different than the joint pain was a quick reminder to do less more often. After starting to bear weight, I would get muscle pain when exercising. I would take 2 xstrengths Tylenol and use rub535. My physio would say if it hurts let's go back to where it does not hurt. There is no point in getting the muscles so tight that it hurts. Did lots of pool therapy, biking, stretching and balancing on one leg and squatting. Take it slow and steady. If the pain seems to get worse and not go away, get it cked out. My doc was very cautious and for once I listened. It has paid off. I continue with therapy, biking, swimming and staying active. Good luck.

I also did the exercises PT in the hospital gave us to do after I went home. About 2 weeks in & a call to my dr’s office I was most likely overdoing it & told to suspend all exercises for a time to see if it helped & until my dr visit. Not advice for everyone but it really helped me. Rest, elevation, Ice. I didn’t sit or lay all the time, definitely got up & walked with walker or cane but seemed exercised for my body and hip were doing more harm than good early on. I’m 12 weeks post op & they don’t hurt at all. I’m doing much better & praying to continue! Hope this helps and best of luck to you and your recovery!

Yes, I can relate to that. It is all that healing and whatever else is going on in there but it seems most people have his problem. I was told not to get too enthusiastic and overdo physio etc.
