20mg Fluoxetine for 38 days. Anxiety less but having huge dips week before period is due

I've been on fluoxetine 20mg for 38 days.
Week 1: Felt a little better, my mind was at rest because I'd finally got help.
Week 2: Horrific health anxiety, stomach pains among other side effects.
Week 3: Felt AMAZING this week.
Week 4: (week before my period is due) Had a huge dip at the start of the week, thinking that something was seriously wrong with my health. Anxiety levels through the roof. This subsided gradually as the week progressed.
Week 5: Feeling okay ish. Anxiety has got much better but still find myself struggling when I'm not busy. I'm still having thoughts of "What's the point in being happy? I'll only have another dip soon. I'll never get better. What if something is seriously wrong with me?"
I'm also feeling like my eyes can't focus properly but not sure if that's just in my head.
When will this stop? When will I start to feel normal again.?
Please help. ??

Hiya Samantha... sorry chic in the way you are feeling, but unfortunately this is how Prozac works, it will take up to 10/12 weeks or more for some, to settle down proper in your body, so you will experience good and bad days at this stage, your come this far just try to take each day as it comes, you will get there big hug 🤗x

Hi Samantha, what you are experiencing is very typical of the beginning stages of flou. This is a very slow med to get balanced in your system. Typically it takes a good 12 weeks to settle. I know many people who have terrible dips around the time of their period. It has calmed down for them once flou go settled. You will have ups and downs but they should become less severe and less frequent. But remember everyone in this world has good and bad days. Hold on hon it will get better. ????👍💪

There will be many ups and downs ,really , and when the monthlys come it knocks you back, but hold on in there , remember what us ladies have said and take each day as it comes , your in good company here , and you will improve ,hugs xxxxxxx

Thank you all so much for the reassurance, it really means a lot. My biggest barrier is thinking that there's something seriously wrong with me. I've had full routine blood tests recently & they all came back normal. If it was anything serious, would it have been picked up in those?
I'm a primary teacher & whilst doing incredibly well at work, it's home where I struggle. It's so frustrating. Xxxxx

What you have to do is have a new positive thinking process in hand ! We all think the worst about symptoms and our thoughts go into panic. What if syndrome!!!! You must tell yourself when you've been checked and tested by the gp or hospital, that your OK, you are fine , then move forward hun, the tests are usually spot on , so if you've been given the all clear , rejoice that you've not got some awful illness. The anxiety gives us symptoms and plays mind games !!!!! Look it in the face , then go about your life xxxxx

I think that the fact you got your period naturally made you feel worse so now you're anxious that it's not going to get better when you felt so good the week before. Hang in. It doesn't take all of life's stresses away as you still need to be able to cope with some stress, such is life, but it puts you on a balance that helps you cope. I'm having a s**t time with work atm, and am terrified for the future, but know I've been through it before and fluoxetine got me through it.
