The op went well on Friday. I visited a few hours later, he did look a funny colour and was still a little under the influence of the drugs but smiling. The consultant told him to take plenty of salt (for the past three months he had cut it out) and drink the bovril on offer at meal times. He was out of bed just to go up and down on his toes. On Saturday he took a few steps but felt light headed so will do more today, Sunday. The worst part of the op? The nurse who tried to take blood from his arm, second time he didn't feel a thing. He is enjoying the cameraderie on the six bed ward and also hospital food, 'Roast Beef followed by Apple Crumble today.) he has nothing but admiration for the hospital. Tony's wife.

    Dear both

    All sounds good!

Remind in where exactly you are in the world...roast beef for breakfast, even bovril, sounds like not in the uk!

Drink plenty of water...soon someone will show you the art of climbing up stairs!

      Hi Tony

Healing sounds good.....fun tho as I was given a jug with 1 .5 litres of water per day with strict instructions to drink!

These medics are wonderful at healing ....tho each has his own ideas. Mostly tho...all is well!

    Hello lovely couple,

SO happy to hear that all went well with Tony's surgery - Not often that hospital food is liked ... sounds delicious - better than the pre-packaged slices of bread and slice of cold cut, so transparent it's not normaL- same at lunch ...

don't allow him to show off !!!!   easy does it -

    big warm hug

Three meals a day plus three snack rounds. Patient protected meal times so no visitors allowed during that time. Flexible visiting at other times.

Great news Tony. You will have ups and downs but I think the wonderful thing about this forum is that we tend to know what to expect.

I had a single room which was ok at night but noone to chat to or get encouragement from during the day and the food was grim....

    Hope you get home soon

    Take care
