Hi. Carol re discharge if it is continuing do get it checked out. You want to rule out infection. Better to check than leave it to get worse. You can get oozing after stitch removal but this should stop quickly and start to dry up. Continuous discharge us not normal. Do u have pain?

I saw the Nurse and Doctor and the Doctor thought it looked hiffy so I was put on some antibiotics and had a dressing put on.  It was painful then but is feeling a lot better now.  It is the slight elevation I am concerned about now I just hope it settles down.

so pleased u saw dr antibiotics will help with pain and swelling. did yr doctor comment abt the raised toes?  i have an issue with my op as i had bunion and toes done. my big toe does not look straight and it seems they did not perform the akins they have given me bunion brace to wear but i am nt sure how much pressurei shld put on toe. my other toes quite swollen and where ligament was cut toe is raised up. i would imagine alot of this will settle down once swelling subsides and i can do stretching excercises. i seem to recall my l foot op from 20 yrs ago being much straighter at this point just swollen, so i am a bit worried. these are new procedures i guess but i am disappointed with the after care advice.

Hi Sheila No my doc only dealt with the infection she did not make any comments about toe.  The senior podiatrist who referred me to the consultant rang me.  He seemed to think it would all settle in time.  The paper work they gave me did mention tho that elevation could occur, I hope not because it looks funny , but it looked funny before.  I do think that building your exercise up slowly and still elevating and resting is still important even at nearly 6 weeks.  I find I am glad to sit down.  The papers I had were out of date for after care and needed updating so I was told.
