2ND Outbreak, Seem worst than the first, can't pass bowel...

Little History: I first found out I have herpe back in March of last year, which was painful to say the least. It affected my balls and a little of my penis area... after seeing doctor and getting on the meds, the area healed up within 14 days.

Fast forward to March of this year, I had another outbreak. This time it moved to the anal area. It has been so painful, I couldnt work. Now it seem to gotten pass the ucler/late stage but the healing process seem to not be kicking in. I try to pass a bowel movement, but it hurts way too much and I wind up sucking it back in (which I know makes matter worse).

Tried using stool softer and waiting to see if that wiill do the trick and allow me to pass a softer stool....

any suggestions, please share

That's about all you can do, I'm afraid. Soften it up, wipe gently, but keep it clean (use wet wipes or rinse). Too late to start the meds, so just do what you can to help it heal.

So once you're already having an outbreak taking the meds is pretty much useless?

The idea of the meds when used for episodic therapy is to avert an outbreak, and to do that they need to be started asap upon the onset of symptoms. I suppose they may offer some help with recovery, even if started very late during an outbreak, but it's rather limited.

Well I believe my outbreak started a week before friday last week and I went to be seen by a doctor last friday who put me on meds, it was a 7 days supply and i ran out this friday that passed... It did seem to start getting better but now it seem sore and raw and still hurts. I might go back to doctor and see about refilling meds and taking a longer course and see if that helps? I finally was able to pass a little bowel movement, but lots of blood on stool and my baby wipes. Kind of freaked me out

I thought about going to the doctor but i cant afford it, already spent way more than I make trying to treat this dang herpe sores. I dont even know if a second course of meds would even do anything, which is expensive since I have no insurance. Im thinking if i have a second time same thing then im going no matter what... but it just nerve wrecking, i been dealing with this already 14 days and still healing sad

I don't see to many males on this website

So this is all something new to me ..

Especially since it seemed almost impossible for a man to catch it from a female ..

Sorry you are going through this .

On the bright side you only had one outbreak within a year that is good

Most people from what I hear have 4-6 outbreaks a year

How is the suppressive medicine ??

Never did suppressive medicine, only took meds back when I had my first outbreak. It was very painful- didn't want to move, get out of bed and took lots of baths lol. 14 days of hell. After it was over, went back to my active lifestyle. Not even sure what triggered this 2nd outbreak but it seem to be taking longer Nd is more painful. It sucks, I feel down and will be looking into meds for life to reduce more outbreaks. I can't go through this every year it's just stops me from doing life

Which type do you have? If Type 1, you may only get the one every year, if that.

Type 2 sad I know every outbreak will occur in my gential area and it's depressing. I forgotten about it after 1st outbreak and I lived a pretty normal life. Now with this 2nd one, I'm reminded the horror of dealing with it and how painful it is during the stages of the outbreak.

I know it sucks what you're going through now, but I'm also marvelling at how you've only had one outbreak per year. That's very good for Type 2!

Do you know who infected you ?

I never heard of the 2nd outbreak being worst then the first I guess it differs for everyone ..

I'm sorry about what you are going through .. And hopefully things will get better

Hard to say but I have someone in mind who I believe I caught the infection from. At this point, it doesn't change the fact I have it now. I have battled at first trying to deal with it, accept it and dealing with it.

Hardest thing is: this outbreak has distracted me from living life. I'm still in pain, healing seem to be taking forever (I'm guessing due to location, that's why) and I'm depressed
