Hi I am just 10days in with my right hip, already had both knees done 8 yrs ago & and will probably need the left hip doing in the future, every recovery has been different &with each one becomes new challengers all aimed at the end result of being able to walk &move around pain free. I understand your worries of how the next one will turn out I felt exactly the same, I wish you continued success with your first hip & hope all goes well with your next one good luck. Suzy

You are so experienced I heed every wise word

you say. Can I pick your brains, as I'm in for

      hip number 2 next week.

Can you remember what advice was given to you

abou recovering from the anaesthetic post op. Was it best not

to drink or to drink water? My mind is a blank.

      thank you

    Hi Isabelle -

    Sounds so familiar !neutral

    i am 19 days post op from 2nd THR - first one was March 16, 2015 -

I don;t know about you, but my non-operated leg was so bad that I couldn't stand it any more ... healing of operated hip,was ,of course, hampered -

after I totally freaked out, fellow hippies here sort of calmed me down - I thought I was an exception !!!!!!  apparently not ...

It was a miserable summer and I actually was looking forward to this one...

well .............. then something switched inside my brain ... I became anxious and panicked - for the life of me, I don't know why - not the surgery, because that went well .. the post-op period was not too much fun but doable (I live alone)-

It was so bad that I had to take anti anxiety medication just to make it through the night ....

Got a lot of support here, which calmed me down a bit ...

the only thing I can say is to just accept that you are freaking out ... that is all - no need to defend your self to your self or others ...

it takes some practice but once you are there, you will feel a lot calmer ...

Wishing you peace of mind and sending you light

    warm hug

Same here, but I hung out for a further11 months,

till the pain got bad and I could get back up.

my daughter is the 'sandwich generation, full time

job, teen age kids, and older parents needing

support sometime' as she described us in her blog!

there's no privacy these days!  Now I'm on the

las few days before my second hip, and being

bone on bone I am in pain.

i understand the freaking out,th longer you have to

think the more you can freak out!

I will of course post my progress.
