3 1/2 week update from Sacropinious fixation.

Dear all,

I wanted to share my update with you. I had my sacropinious fixation, enterocele and rectocele surgeries 3 1/2 weeks ago. If you have read my previous posts you will know that I had the most excruciating buttock pain and more recently leg pain.

I thought I was dying! Yesterday morning I woke up and had no pain in my buttock or leg. It felt sore to touch but it wasn't the burning hot knives pain I had experienced when walking and sitting on the toilet. I felt elated! Today I woke up fearing it wound be back, but it's just very mild and I'm so happy. I'm not sure why it has receded but I did have half a bottle of wine the night before as I felt rotten! I'm wondering if it relaxed my muscles etc back into place!

I saw my surgeon this evening. I was worried about this bearing down feeling I'm experiencing. He examined me and says all is fine and nothing has fallen down. He says the bearing down feeling is because my vaginal walls are tight now so pull slightly. He confirmed my leg pain is sciatica and said movement should help that and to go to my GP. It is probably caused by being in bed for 3 weeks. I did point out to him that I couldn't sit or stand. He said I'd suffer buttock pain for probably 6 months but intermittently.

Also he confirmed I must not lift things for 10 weeks. Also sex before stitches dissolve may scratch my partner. That's 6 months ??. However can have sex after about 6 weeks but woman to be on top and call the shots... and it will feel strange. I am still feeling exhausted and my legs feel like jelly but I guess I'm feeling overall positive as that intense pain has died down... but just a bit alarmed on how this all affects my life. He had said because my prolapse was so severe that I will have to have the surgery again in the future. It is just a case of living a sensible life to prolong it. Ruddy genetics!

Glad you are feeling better. I'm 46 years old and had the identical surgery as you exactly one year and I can honestly say it has taken the year to get back to normal. Everything took longer than expected and at times it became too much for me but thankfully I'm back to pre op fitness. Everything works as it should now and I only get the buttock twinges if I over do things. I've lost 2 stones and that's made a massive difference. I can now easily walk 5 miles without pain or feeling of heaviness. I still don't lift anything too heavy as I first had surgery at 39 but it failed as I didn't follow the advice the doctor gave me. Good luck and speedy recovery x

Hi - I just penned a long reply and it disappeared! .. just to say I'm relieved to hear this surgery leads to a full recovery. I hope I too get fit like you. I'm missing Pilates and the gym 😔

So glad you are well. I'll take heart from your post ... what's a year?! 🌸

I had the same op in November and i am still recovering slowly. I saw the specialist today and still have a mild prolapsed bladder but the surgery that I had for rectocele etc is still healing.I had no idea beforehand how long it would take to feel better. I can get out and about now that bladder has settled down but still get tired quickly and the sex thing is still out! We did try but it made me feel ill for a week afterwards so having another break. Good luck with your recovery
