3 and a half weeks post op and lightheaded

I had my revisionary surgery on 14th May.  I think I’m doing fine - until I either sit completely upright for over 45 minutes or have a very quick shower.  I joined friends for lunch yesterday, sat on a chair with cushions but had to leave early as I thought I was going to pass out.  I get very light headed, see stars, feel faint and nauseous.  Does anyone else have this problem or know what could be causing it?  I wasn’t like this after my initial hip replacement 13 months ago.  I seem to be ok on my crutches but suppose I’m not walking for more than 30 minutes at a time.  Any suggestions welcome.  Thanks

Hi Pippy, first off how's your BP, if you don't know either see your GP ASAP or your chemist and get it checked, it could be low which could cause woozy headed feelings, it could even be anxiety related, call Doc's and ask for an emergency appointment, try not to worry which will make it worse

Thank you and everyone else for your replies.  Yes, my BP is slightly lower than normal at times.  I’ll check with my GP in the morning.  Many thanks

Good to get checked out, let us know how you get on, it could actually be a combination of the BP being low and when it dips and you feel dizzy that could trigger the anxiety causing the symptoms to worsen

Agree with last post. Get your blood pressure checked.

    Hi

I was like this for a while after my op but with me I believe it's anxiety about something happening... Could also be your blood pressure is low?. In the past before my op I've had this and its been down to a virus. Hope you get sorted soon x

hi,i felt exactly the same, but in my case it was medication causing it-oromorph-i couldnt take ibuprofen and was in too much pain with just paracetomol, wasnt offered anything else so i rang and asked if i could take the oromorph i had been given for the first few nights.it worked really well but i was left feeling very weak and shaky in the mornings when trying to get breakfast.i contacted the hospital again and was told it was the oromorph causing it and to stop taking it,which i did.x

Yes, I can empathise with that.  I can’t take morphine or Tramadol in large doses.  I’m now only taking paracetamol and one Tramadol when I go to bed.  I think my lightheadedness was low blood pressure and the doc is getting it under control. I’m beginning to feel better.
