I'm almost 4 months post op.
Still, on a weekly basis I have at least one day of nausea /diarrhoea sometimes both. but the rest of the time I'm fine.
I stick to a healthy diet, low fat, gluten free and almost dairy free. whenever I have a flare-up I try to pinpoint which food caused it and then eliminate it.
more often than not I cant find a reason.
On the FB page they suggest Tudca, ox bile and digestive enzymes. my doctor says they probably won't help.
Anyone else experience this. is it normal after four months to still have these issues?

Hello!
I had my gb taken out on May 8th and I have been suffering with various issues since then: nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue, dizziness.
Since I started digestive enzymes the nausea stopped. With diarrhoea I have been helped with Doralin, they calm the intestine.
I have not tried ox bile or anything like that.
I keep a diary of foods that do not agree with me.
I used to eat a lot of raw veggies but now I can hardly eat any. So anything raw is a no-no for me. I hope that in time the body will adjust itself to being without a gb.
There is a group on FB that discusses a lot of these issues. It is call: Gallbladder removed group.
Hope you feel better soon

thank you. I think I might try the digestive enzymes even though the doctor didn't seem too keen when I suggested them.

6 years?? I don't like the sound of that.
what does your doctor say. Isnt there anything that will help?
My doctor didn't sound very enthusiastic about digestive enzymes but I see a lot of people seem to take them.
have you tried them?
I'm seriously considering getting some because I really miss eating!

I think that's normal. I’m a little over five months and the nausea comes and goes It seems like it’s getting better as time goes on. I was told it takes a solid 6 to 12 months for everything to settle down. That said, I have not been as militant as you with diet. I wish you and all of us a full recovery very soon. God bless.

My doctor didn't seem to keen on my suggestion of digestive enzymes so I changed my mind about getting them. But I would be very interested to hear how you get along with them and whether you find they help. please let me know if you try them. somebody has Slippery Elm but I haven't tried it yet.

beckyooo I have an integrative, holistic doctor. Enzymes have saved me... that's all I can say!! Conventional docs do not have much knowledge on this kind of alternative help!!

thank you I'm going to try the digestive enzymes. I think my doctor put me off. also I read that they can cause bloating and stomach ache which is exactly what I'm trying to get rid of!
have you noticed any side effects?
I also read that you need different types of enzymes for different types of food, like fat or protein or lactose. do they combine them all?
do they work immediately or take a month or more to be effective?

becky000 no side effects at all.. I posted another reply too with the brand of digestive enzymes I use but the page does not allow it.. they work pretty fast..

Thanks you so much. I saw both your replies. However I live in South Africa so had to look for another brand. I got Digestive Enzymes from the Health Shop and will start using them today. I also bought a good probiotic that's kept in the fridge and was recommended.
Here's hoping I can start eating normally again.....

After a week on the digestive enzymes and probiotics I have to say that they definitely work.
I'm still careful with what I eat but no more symptoms after meals.
I hope you're feeling better too.

i use those . i also use low dose amitrptyline and ativan at bed. i believe that those, and most importantly, faith, has brought me to feel almost 100% again (maybe 85-95%). God bless.
