4 weeks 20mg Citalopram and getting there

Just thought I would give an update on my story so far. I started on 10mg in April, after 12 weeks felt good, but then had a dip which lasted for another few weeks. My GP suggested I increased to 20mg, due to my apprehension of more side effects, I increased to 15mg for 3 weeks and had no side effects, but felt there was still room for improvement. 4 weeks ago I increased to 20mg, still no side effects and now feeling more like myself. I'm no longer in my head all the time and enjoying life again. I know there maybe days/ weeks to come that I may dip again, but I know now that I will get better and be well again. It's been a hell of a journey and at times thought I would never come out the other side. But for all of you who are thinking the same, I hope this brings you hope and reassurance that you will get there, no matter how hard just keep pushing through it. Dx

Hi Lynda, this is my 1st time on Citalopram. I was on Sertraline for 5 weeks before this, I had the most horrendous time and lost 20lb, hence the switch. Recovery is not linear and we all react differently, I'm sure given another couple of weeks you'll feel much better. I know it's hard when you're in the middle of it all, I've had my share of doubting that anything will work. Ive kept a diary of my journey and when I read it, I'm amazed at how far I've come. This forum, the advice and success stories have kept me going. Keep pushing through, I'm rooting for you lol Dx

Yes Lynda, it's the anxiety that's causing the negative thinking and its hard to overcome. From looking on this forum I think if you go back on to this med, it takes longer to kick in. Have you looked for Katecogs on here, she's brilliant and been where we are and now recovered. Look her up she has a lot of good knowledge and advice that will really help you. D x
