4 weeks post-Cystocele surgery; pain when sneezing or coughing

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am now 4 weeks post op for a Cystocele repair. I feel like for the most part I am getting better daily. However, if I cough or sneeze it is excruciatingly painful. This happened when I was out the other night for dinner. The pain is so bad bs then I usually don't want to do anything for hous because it feels so sore and stretched out. Anyone else have this problem with coughing/sneezing after surgery and if so, when will it finally go away? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a posterior repair & TVT so slightly different but yes a sneeze or cough still makes it all ache again unless I am sat down holding everything in place. I'm nearly 9 weeks post op now and have been told it could take upto 3 months or more before you start to feel a little more normal. The message seems to be to rest as often as possible x

If you get too worried then perhaps still get it checked but yeh it does seem to be a long recovery process sad If you're on fb there is a good support forum on there too if you want more reassurance x

4 weeks is very early days, takes far longer than they lead you to believe to recovery.Don't want to alarm you but I am 8 and a half months post op and sex is still sooo painful, going back to hospital in 3 weeks time to find out what is going on

Definitely get that checked out as it sounds like you still have prolapse.
