44 Stage 2 non-smoker. Still nervous.

I know a lot have it worse than I do but I'm curious if COPD progresses fast? I've never smoked and for years thought it was asthma. Now I'm getting winded just doing household chores or playing with my kids. I thought I was just out of shape but guess not.

I went to a specialist and my doctor said did not have copd but I did have just as a discription emphysema like as if her hair was brow. She did a spirometory test and Irvin was good oxygen was 100% I had scaring in two small places that have been there at least 6 years from old Ct scan may been caused from new pneumonia she said copd would probably get me before emphysema would and I don't have copd. Did you do a spirometory test and a Ct scan those are very important. Plus have your hormones checked I'm 47 and mine started around 40 it can make you tired and short winded. Exercise clean house stay up and moving very important. I sure pray you feel better

A bit part of slowing the progress of COPD is exercise and good nutrition, you may find doing a pulmonary rehabilitation course of great help, its both educational about learning to manage the condition, what helps what harms and it will kick start a regular exercise programme which will help you breathe easier and improve stamina.

Stay as well as you can, breathe easy.
