4KScore cancer screening test and herbal supplements for BPH

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had the 4KScore test done in 2018. I was glad to see a very low score of 3%.

However, today - for the very first time - I read that prostate meds (5-alpha reductase inhibitors such as Finasteride) AND supplements (saw palmetto) can interfere with the test.

I do not take Finasteride or any 5ARI, but I take saw palmetto, beta sitosterols, pygeum bark, quercitin, turmeric, fish oils, etc.

Wondering if anyone has had the test and knows about the test reliability if taking herbal supplements.

Thanks,

Michael

Stay away from anything that is not prescribed by your doctor. Herbal supplements and mail order supplements are not FDA regulated because they do nothing.

Presumably the turmeric is for your joints and not your prostate. I found benefit from turmeric but stopped it when starting CBD oil as I wanted to start that with a clean sheet,

OK, here is my experience with supplements. My PSA score was 10 I started taking pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto for three months. My PSA went up to 13 and the euro wanted to do a biopsy. I told him I wanted to wait and do another PSA test in three months. He was agreeable to that. I stopped Taking saw palmetto but continued with pumpkin seed oil. I also started taking turmeric. Just had my PSA test done two weeks ago and the PSA went down six points to 7! These are palmetto the pumpkin seed oil seem to take care of my pelvic pain and also help me void my bladder. The turmeric these are palmetto the pumpkin seed oil seem to take care of my pelvic pain and also help me void my bladder. The turmeric did not make a difference with my joint pain but seems to have helped Relieve me of my testicle pain.

You must do your research and buy the right kind of to turmeric, otherwise it does not make a difference and you are waisting your money. I am not claiming the turmeric has lowered my PSA. I will wait for a few more test scores to see if it is consistently lower. All I can say right now is that is the only thing that has changed in my diet.

sorry, I was dictating my post and did not check it before I hit reply. The only thing I think has made a difference for me is the pumpkin seed oil to relieve pelvic pain and help me empty my bladder completely. And turmeric which seems to have helped with testicle pain and possibly lowering my PSA score.
