im 5 weeks out from tkr and experiencing a lot of feels like burning and very aching. Don’t really feel pain but the burning and aching feeling mostly at night and the morning. I can’t even put a sheet on me at night until I go to sleep. I wear compression hose during the day so I don’t really feel the burning sensation but sure do the aching feeling. I was wondering if anyone else had or having this problem. I go see my doctor for a six week checkup in about 1 week. I still do pt and water aquatic’s. Thanks for any advice

Deb,it the burning sensation is on the side of the knee this is perfectly normal as is the aching. My doctor told me NOT to keep a compression hose over my knee at all just keep using ice when required.

I was wondering if the compression hose was doing it but I also have lymphadema in same leg so I have to wear the hose during the day. It seems I can’t win for loosing sometimes

Deb,don’t get me wrong here mind the heat on your knee is purely due to the major operation you have had and not the compression hose,I felt like it

I could fry an egg on mine and it will last a while yet mind.

Thank you for telling me that. I will continue with all I’m doing and just knowing it won’t last forever

Mine used to get all warm in the evening....Try and think about this being a good thing , it is your body working hard to heal!

It almost seemed to switch on at a certain time! 😀😁😄

      It will improve with time.

Does the water aerobics help with the knee pain. Thanks. Katie

Thanks.  It makes me feel good that I am doing the right thing to heal the meniscus.  I too feel great after I am done with the water aerobics.

Normal.  Try some Voltaren Gel (RX in the US)...second best topical anti-inflammatory on the planet.  Great at bedtime.
