5 weeks two days in and feeling defeated

Is it possible that while Fluoxetine has worked well for me in the past it’s just not going to work this time? I’m currently on 60mg daily having increased from 40 a few weeks ago. Iv not had these terrible side effects before and I actually think I feel worse now than I did before.

It will work. 5 weeks isn't long enough given you upped. I had no side effects the first time I took it. This time has been horrific. I'm almost at week 7 and quite suddenly things have improved. I haven't had a benzo for a week. You've got this far and you're so close to sunlight now. Please hold in there Paintopower.

Iv made myself get out of bed and potter around the house, my friend messaged to ask if I wanted to go out and despite wanting to say no I said yes. How can I expect to sleep is I do nothing with my day? How can I get better if I lock myself away? I’m taking my propranolol and olanzapine with me, not to take but to help me feel safe because Il know if I need them they are there

Thank you Dom. I’m starting to do better myself on 40 now.  Finally it’s week 8.  I woke up and it wasn’t as bad as it’s been.

Hi there.. I’m on 60mg and been on Prozac for nearly 8mths now, and when I went from 40 to 60  the first week was great, I was on a high, then after that I felt not good again, which prob lasted for me about one week, then just settled it self down again..

I’m fine now, but still have the odd day where I’m not good, BUT I think that may be as I’m going through the menopause, and my hormones are up and down.. I may be wrong lol , but hoping I’m not as I feel good on this med, after trying others, I live in hope it stays ok, but not sure if maybe 60 is to much for you, I’d give it a few weeks and see if it does settle down again, if not you can always go back to 40 if you feel that suited you better, y did you go from 40 to 60 ?? 🤗x

Last time I was sick I went to 60 around 3 months in and the doctor said going to 60 might help it kick in quicker.

Today hasn’t been so bad as last night, last night was beyond awful

I’m just tired of all this now, 5 weeks n 3 days and I just want my mind to be quiet.

I don’t remember anything really from my recovery last time, I remember being really ill and then being ok I don’t remember the bit in the middle. I am blessed this time with the fact I know my friend won’t walk away when the going gets tough, Iv found great strength in that despite distancing myself from her because I don’t want her to see me like this.

At points I have found this forum a life saver at other times I worry it’s making me think more about how unwell I feel, after last night tho I wouldn’t be without you all, the man who responded to me saved me a lot of heart ache and a trip to a&e. I just don’t know how to say thank you. Xxx

Rrrr bless you, I really no how it feels and how bad it can get, we’ve all been there at that stage at some time, I was in a very dark tunnel to start with, and my mind was all over the place, our minds are very strong at times, that what people can’t see on the out side, it can distroys us...

but Prozac did turn me around, not the first 4weeks that was hell, but once I went up to 40 it started to steady out, then by 3mths I was up to 60 mg and I’m good... you will get there, like I said to Dom, when he was low, keep going you will turn the corner, it’s just a very slow working med, but does work, I do hope it will for you too x

Please hang in there.  Dom is right.  It takes sooo long to build up in your system.  Try to keep busy somehow.

I’m on week 8, and just starting to see some benefit, and I have had terrible side effects.  The worst I can remember. I think it is too soon to tell.  Even if you switch I think it takes a good 12 weeks to level out.  I’m sure not what you want to hear, but at 5 weeks I was not doing well, actually worse up until in week 8.  I remember from the past it takes a loooong time to work.  Unless you can’t bear the side effects, I would keep trying to push through it.

Yep I agree. Took me till week 8 before I started to feel better with weeks 3 to 5 being particularly bad. Weird cos when I'd been on it previously I felt better after 2 weeks and never had any side effects and thought people who did were making it up!

      Good luck to you.
