6 week update

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi ladies, I am 6 weeks today post op from A&P repair and over the last couple of days I've noticed a big improvement, at last it seems to be settling down and I've been more comfortable and able to walk better and been getting around more but always being careful. Feeling much more confident now. I'm still bleeding slightly, can anyone shedone any light on when this likely to stop. X

Glad you are feeling better. I will be six weeks on Monday and the repair seems good. I think I may have done a bit too much today - achy belly now.

I had very. very little bleeding - even just post op - nothing red just more oozing from a wound type discharge - I don't think it could be called bleeding. I just a some bleeding a week ago  which has stopped. That was after bowel motion when I felt as though everything had failed - been better since. But really nothing significant. Hope yours stops soon - have you had a post op appt yet?

Slight bleeding is to be expected and it explains this I'm sure in the Pinned Post on the Genitourinary home page.

    Hi Carolyn,

Discharge should not last too much longer, as they say you can start swimming as soon as it stops around 6/7 weeks.

Good to hear you are finding a big improvement, my hubby said that he could see an improvement around 6 week mark and that my movement was much more mobile.

    Keep taking plenty rest.

    Happy healing,

    Phyl x☺☺☺

Hi chic, is it like a dry throbbing that is the only way I know how to exsplan it,

Not really doing a lot of walking, been to tesco few times and this week was the only time I felt comfortable, first time only in there be minutes and had to go and sit in the car. The throbbing has gone now but I feel a bit wet rather than dry,. Think the longest actual walk was about 15-20 minutes. Now I'm beginning to feel better I'm almost scared to do anything in case I go backwards, still have to drive yet.

Hi Carolyn, the throbbing must be the healing, I am a wuss love hate odd fealings and any pain, still taking Parocetomel, I haven't driven yet mu Husband brought me to the caravan, and I think I will leave driving till seven week don't want to drive yet and I work national,

i just oust want to feel normal again, how are you doing with picking things up and bending!

I was taking paracetamol until 3 days ago. Not too bad bending and picking things up although I do look strange as I don't do it like it normally would and it also depends on how big the item is. I dropped a tablet on the floor and couldn't get to that.

I haven't found walking too bad, keeping moving seems to be ok. Harder to stand still though, then gravity seems to take effect! I know what you mean about picking things up. I can get washing out of the machine a bit at a time with no problem but yesterday dropped something on the floor and couldn't get to it.

Hi Carolyn, your 6 week post will give a lot of encouragement to others - knowing that you have turned a corner. Take it easy - all the best with your continuing improvement.

Well isn't that just typical, after blowing my trumpet and telling my family and work colleagues that I appeared to have turned the corner and special proud that I hadn't had paracetamol for 4 days now, bleeding has almost ceased, I get up this morning with a pain in between my bum cheeks and back ache, hopefully it won't stick around for long.

That's normal carolyn in fact I've just responded to another lady on this forum telling her to expect more pain and discomfort at around 4-5 weeks. As the sutures tighten the pain as you describe comes to ruin everything!

At 5 weeks I turned into drama queen mode!!! Convinced all had failed. (still not overly sure) but better at 6 weeks yesterday. Taking painkillers when I've done too much!

That's reassuring, at 6 weeks last Saturday and thought I'd be great to return to work in two weeks after the few pain free days, underneath has definitely improved, not as confident now.

That sounds familiar. It's usually around that time ladies and I include myself think the surgery has failed and there's no end to the pain and discomfort. It does get better, I promise x

I'm pleased you are thinking that way, it's too early so just take your time.

I do hope so. Today would have been the day I returned to work. Yesterday I went into the garden and did just a little bit. Filled some  pots, did some gentle chopping - no lifting and not too much bending. And it was only for a little while (had to supervise husband so had to be nearby!) No way could I have gone back to work for a whle day today. Just a little bit concerned my bladder prolapse may have got worse (mentioned in my renewal of interference post) and that's why I feel not so good.

But yes it does get a (little) bit better
