6 weeks on 20mg and Panic Attacks again

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone can relate to this. I have been on 20 mg for 6 weeks and had a lot of side effects to begin with- headaches, anxiety, chest pain and palpitations but the last week has not been so bad. However today in the afternoon I just experienced severe panic attack symptoms prob the worst I've ever had- chest pain, numbness, palpitations. Is this normal after 6 weeks? I'm feeling a bit down coz I thought things may have been settling down ,then today a big setback. Thanks for any insights, replies

Hi wyarip.. yep that’s just normal, at your stage, as still to early to settle down conpleatly, you will get good days, but also bad ones to, I’m 8mth in to this med, and feel good every day now, but it did take 3+ months for Prozac to settle down for ME..
But we are all different on how this med will work, uv come this far so keep it up, as it’s worth it in the end 🤗x

Thanks so much Dawn for your reply. Yes I will stick at it but today was a big shock out of the blue. I don't see the Dr for checkup for another 3 weeks so hope by then (that'll be 9 weeks) I am much better as I don't want to go to 40mg if I don't have to.
Good to hear that it's normal enough to have the panic.

Dawn, thanks for replying. Not good today, severe chest pressure, bloating, getting breathless. Hoping its just side effects. be good to get through the next few weeks to see if there's a difference. Feel like going backwards.

Hello All, Just had the worst night and morning not any better. Shaky, very anxious and sore stomach and chest. Really struggling, are these meds working? Feel far worse now than I ever did before starting the Fluoxetine. Just wondering if I've made a huge mistake. Thanks for any replies.

By the way, a lot of people say they start to have good days, i haven't had a good day yet after 6 weeks, is that normal?

Everything your saying is normal wyarip and I know it doesn't seem like it and yes it feels like its worse but trust me what your going through right now is normal and I had the same doubts and it isn't til you realise that YOU are your own worse enemy is when I finally started to take control. All I did was over think everything, kept thinking I made a mistake or worse maybe I really did have an impending heart problem about to kill me!!
You will reach a point where you will realise that after every attack or bad feeling your still alive.. then you realise it is the fear that gets you.. its hard to explain but you got to fight this and don't give up. I came close and I'm now so glad I didn't.
Stay positive, keep yourself distracted and practice some breathing exercises.. they helped a lot with the shallow breathing. I was amazed how easy it was to take control once you beat the fear.

Thanks a lot for your reply.Struggling a lot today again, woke up feeling sick and shaky and with the chest pain palpitations, hope it eases soon. The lack of sleep is affecting me as I awake every night at 2.30am.
I am determined to keep taking the meds but as each day comes with no respite the doubts set in. Good to discuss on this forum it certainly helps to know that others have been through it came out the other end ok.
