6 weeks post op posterior repair - bending & lifting

Posted , 4 users are following.

hi, If im 6 weeks post op can I now start bending and picking stuff up, I've been really careful so far but it's now starting to drive me crazy not to be able to get things from bottom shelves etc! There's no sign of my stitches yet but I know from past posts that you don't always see them. Thanks

I'm 4 weeks post op A&P repair, have been gently easing myself into doing little things. I have squatted to get things from lower shelves and floor, so far so good, it hasn't causd me any pain.  I can manage to get things in and out of the oven but am now wondering if I should actually be doing this??

Like most of us on here I was discharged with no real advice on what to do and when so I have just been listening to my body really.

    Hi,

That's the most difficult bit, trying not to bend and stretch too much, nightmare just trying to get surgical tights on! I trimmed all my nails etc before going in for op (around a week before) , I'm now 3 weeks post op tomorrow, 4 weeks since nails done thought I'd try trimming them down today . Didn't realize till went to toilet that had overstretched my posterior stitches , found a little spotting of fresh blood, doesnt feel uncomfortable; but a little warning for me to still be careful when stretching!

Look after yourself , phyl xx

Hello. You can pick things up by carefully bending you knees slowly and carefully but it mustn't be anything heavy.

You are right about the stitches in that you don't always see them, I didn't but there's a lot of ladies who do even after 12 weeks.

Hi Matron, had a lot of my posts put in to be modified by forum . Read why and apparently it is simply because a put gaps or dont put spaces in between words sometimes and they can read like a web address or link. So in case you didn't get my reply. Do hope you had a great cruise. Doing so much better now I am allowed to drive , tried full day yeaterday with grandson and too much. Hard to avoid picking him up and worried about damaging myself, pulling sticthes, ruining surgery like many of the ladies on this forum have posted. Any advice on what is regarded as heavy and how to correctly lift if we have to etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks'Tilley
