6months post op and still worried

Hi ladies, I would like to ask you some questions if you don't mind... I'm 47, 6 months post anterior repair and hysterectomy and in the waiting list for rectocele repair. I have had ups and downs with my recovery but mostly well, I am doing PF exercises with my physio.  I have had 2 wonderful weeks I have felt very very well, pain just couple of days because of intestinal gas and no buldge feeling at all... I have felt so well that I forgot I had a surgery and thought wooowww at last I feel great! No heaviness, no buldge feeling...it is amazing how the non-prolapse feeling can boost such happiness...

But suddenly since yesterday morning, I have been feeling again like I have something inside and like I am prolapsed again. It's a feeling only, yesterday I touched inside and the bladder was still lifted. But touching from inside through the way out to the vagina, I touched almost at the entrance, on the border with the exterior, some stitches, and I could tell that some tissue is almost protruding a little bit outside, it's very small piece of vaginal tissue, I would swear that it is normal in a vagina to have like a very small ball of tissue around the hole, but you know this surgery gets us insane and now I don't even know what it is normal... I think I'm confused... My physio has said nothing about that and he sees me every week...

Well, my last question is: is it normal at 6 months after ant repair still feel like this? I asked my dr in my last check and he says everything goes well. He will remove the stitches I still have in the next rectocele surgery.

Sometimes I think...how Will I be in a year?.. Will I ever get rid of this prolapse feeling? Some days I'm so fed up of this...Sorry ladies, I'm a bit sad today... Thanks for listening 😔

Hello there, we have spoken before. I am similar to you in that I have had an anterior repair & hysterectomy 3 years ago. I am waiting (after taking a long time to decide whether to have it) for a rectocele repair. I was told about a year ago that my bladder might need "hitching up again" I was very sad to hear this after such a short time. I am going to get a second opinion to see what actually needs doing. It's a big thing & can take over your life.

Can you see your doctor to put your mind at rest? Xx

Yes Imnotadoc i remember you very well, yes I can see my doctor in 3 weeks... But until then I wanted to have your comments...

It's good to have a second opinion, hope the new doctor can clarify if you need the uplifting of your bladder. Thanks for your help

      Hugs honey 😘

It might just be part of the healing process. Hopefully everything will work out well for you. We don't appreciate how complicated our bodies are until things start to go wrong! Take care. Xx

Hi Hijadeonagro,  do you remember me?  I had a second surgery 6 months after the one that failed.  Believe it or not, I have the same feeling as you, including the tissue coming outside the vagina.  I am 5 weeks post op and just noticed it this past weekend.  My post op visit is July 7.  I know how you feel because I am scared.  The second doctor did fix some of the failings of the first surgery, so maybe even if your fears ar right, it may be fixable.  Not so for me.  It is, what it is. That's why I am waiting to see the doc until June 7.  Let's to pray for each other.  I think you will be fine...but I'm 78 years old, and couldn't go through this again.  Also my old knee replacement is 13 yrs old and bucking, and the Orth doc says I need more surgery after

I heal from this last one.  I can't imagine living through it. I didn't mean to focus on myself, so please forgive me". Prayers and Hugs..Dorothy

    Hi Hijadeonagro,

I am so pleased that everything has went so well and no more prolapse is actually there! It is so good to feel free of that and not be in any pain.

Try not to worry about protruding tissue, I'm sure you will be fine, the feeling of something as if prolapse there again is probably as you felt the small piece of tissue. If you are not in pain and have no other symptoms it is most probably nothing to worry about. 3 weeks is a long time to be worrying.

I am sure that you are right that if anything there to worry about your physio would have noticed, maybe last of stitches causing the little ball of tissue that may disappear once stitches are gone.

Let us know how you get on at doctors, look after yourself and enjoy the time you have before you go for your rectocele surgery.

Yes Phyl maybe the dr could fix the protruding tissue in the rectocele surgery, he will have to open again and remove the stitches I guess He will check everything. Thanks for your words, you are very helpful for me ladies. Hugs!!
