hi ladies.just when I thought I was getting there, I think I have gone backwards. Been a bit constipated and felt that awful bulging feeling ...... I feel so fed up and wonder if it was all worth it.  I felt just like I did before it was all done.sad

Chin up,sometimes we have to feel a bit worse before we feel better again.I had a few set backs as did a lot of ladies on here but it does get better with time. Keep resting, keep up your fluid intake so as not to get constipated and am sure you will feel better soon. Take care x

Im week 7 after grade 3 rectocele..Try not to get down about it I had similar problem at week 5 . I strained and after I felt like op had been a waste if time . I felt like I couldn't fully void again:-( . I then took it easy as i could all week and tried to keep my feet up to help the muscles to strengthen. The main thing is to control the constipation if you having trouble try using a glycerine suppository to help soften rather than strain . I feel better now and I've taken laxatives to help as I've always had sluggish bowels. I have the added problem of being numb now at site of op inside, so I've no pain or sensation as to warn me if I've overdone it . so I'm trying to take it easy ..which isn't easy . I'm back to work after week 8 so hoping I'm ok . all the best sally

7 weeks is still early days. It will be worth it. The main thing is to avoid constipation. It's both a cause and a symptom of prolapse. Gel suppositories from Boots, laxatives to get over a temporary hurdle, or best of all, just sit with your feet on something so that your knees are higher than your hips when you feel you need to go. This seems to ease the movement. Then wait ~ no straining!  If nothing happens, give it up and go back later when the urge comes.

Take care, and don't stray far from home while you're like this. There's nothing quite like your own bathroom! x

Ann please stay strong. You've had major surgery remember and 7 weeks is still early days. It took me about 8 weeks before these feelings and symptoms started to improve. Keep resting.

This is the awkward stage isn't it? We feel much better and think we can stride out and do more adventurous things. Hahahaha, no we can't yet.

One hundred days I heard in here, maybe from Matron, is a sort of landmark for healing and I have to agree.

Yesterday I strode out and ouch ouch ouch, too much again. But this time I didn't hurt so much after so things are clearly getting better, but that's only because I'm on the couch most of the day crocheting for Britain! I do minimal housework, and have a grabber for laundry and low things.

But I'm not there yet, just getting there. And I've realised that the Americans can't really make funny programmes very well. Netflix is my friend by oh dear. I do however love their dramas; Good Wife etc.

So, enjoy this time as much as you can, and remember, bending is not possible, not for ages yet xxx

Hi Ann....my doc gave me Fybogel on prescription. I use just one a day after my main meal and works a treat to keep motion soft and regular.  I think you can buy them off prescription if you want. Dont strain ,just r-e-l-a-x.    7 weeks is still early days so dont get disheartened. Theres a lot of very tender healing going on. It takes time.

Don't feel upset.  Drink a lot of water and keep your feet up.  One day at a time.
