Hi ... just finished week 7 at 20mg ... very slight improvement in motivation but sleeping dreadful and a struggle to get up everyday ... feel I could cry but don't know why ...no enthusiasm for anything ... depression /anxiety been building for months but finally triggered by a relationship break up .... is it time to up the meds or perhaps try something else though I'm not sure I can face another 6 wks just to be disappointed again ... plus start back at uni mid September atm concentration just not there ... did anyone else find it took more than 7 wks to kick in ... don't really want to change meds if I can help it ... had a good effect before a few yrs ago on 30mg .... just feel hopeless atm ??

    Hello Not again,

You are in a bit of a vicious cycle mostly because if you are not sleeping you are going to find it hard to feel the benefit of the meds. So I don't think it's the meds at this stage as you say there is a little improvement. The problem with not sleeping is that when you go to bed you don't EXPECT to sleep it therefore becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Easier said than done, what you need is one good night's sleep and hopefully the rest will follow. I don't know if you are taking night sedation, it might be a very short term solution just to re establish a sleeping rhythym. Go back to GP and suggest something along these lines as when you are rested you are more motivated to rebuild and move forward. Take care
