7 weeks post op and finding stitches......

Hi

i am almost 7 weeks post op and yesterday and this morning I have noticed a few stitches on my pad.

Feel fine and recovery going well (considering) so am I right in assuming these are a sign that things are healing? And is this the usual time you would start to see the stitches come away?

Thanks xx

Sounds like you're healing very well to me jill. It's perfectly normal to see them and don't be surprised if some more don't appear. You see stitches anytime from 3-16 weeks usually.

Thanks of this post Matron, mine starting to come away I am 5 weeks tomorrow and I was going to ask. Don't need to now. Still appreciate any advise on what we can lift and how?

No lifting yet tilley as you're only 5 weeks, well not anything heavy anyway. Just the weight of a kettle full of water at this stage then around 6-8 weeks gradually increase. If you feel a "dragging" sensation in the vulva area then you know it's too heavy.

Not really worried , but is it normal to have a slight smell from vagina. Feel very well in myself and no sign of a temperature, so think this is unlikely to be an infection.

Hi Matron, that is really helpful. Odd eh? how advise differs I was told by my specialist I could lift and do light housework including picking stuff up and light gardening at 4 weeks. We discussed my grandson and he just agreed that I should try to avoid lifting him.At 5-6 weeks I could strat back doing vaccuming and shopping etc. Got a great recovery chart from Rosiepix which differs again and is possible more realistic than the guidlines I was given.

I am avoiding heavy lifting but it is not always possible. I have the dragging feeling you mention started yesterday so resting up. Hopefully no damage done but my grandson fell and I instictively caught him. Didn't fel anything pull but few long stitches found the next day and heavy ache so resting up.
